McRib isn't BBQ. Like a hamburger with BBQ sauce isn't "BBQ"
I thought it was interesting that a local KC place was making the "mKCrib", a "real" version of a McRib (I think ribs with the bones pulled out on a sandwich). They closed because it apparently wasn't popular, and yet the much maligned McRib makes huge sales when available. [Reply]
Someone once told me that you can tell when the McRib is coming back based on pork prices. Apparently they said that when pork falls below a certain threshold McDonalds buys it up & produces McRibs. With McDonalds buying up the pork the price is driven back up & they discontinue until prices fall again. Creates artificial demand that they only supply when costs are low, brilliant if true. Yeah I've read that too. I think they had quoted a McDonalds exec about it. [Reply]

Well they'll be higher once McDonalds runs through them. But I guess i should expect the mcrib to quite a bit more expensive this year. Think they were 2 for 5 last year which seemed higher than normal. [Reply]
