Nzoner's Game Room>Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2
HonestChieffan 11:58 AM 01-23-2011
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Got a phone call from CMP yesterday and my M1 Garands will be in tomorrow. They ship to your house. The receiver serial numbers to them are all WWII era. I'm sure the rest of the parts will be mixed with new CMP wood. Still pumped.

You can pick up a Henry for about $200 used. You're right, they're perfect for a canoe or a backpack. They might also be nice under a truck seat for emergency needs.

As for shopping season, certain parts for certain types of fire sticks are getting harder to find and prices are going up.

I've been trying all day to get a picture to upload.

1. 1942 Springfield M1 Garand with a 1954 barrel. All Springfield parts with new CMP wood.
2 1944 Springfield M1 Garand with a 1954 barrel. All Springfield parts with new CMP wood.
3. 1942 Springfield M1 Garand with a 6-1945 barrel (better throat and muzzle readings than the other two.) All Springfield parts with new CMP wood.

I wish at least one of them had USGI wood. I'm going to eventually look to purchase USGI wood for the 1942 with 1945 barrel.

Yeah not a bad idea, this thing could go sideways strictly on speculation alone pretty quickly.

I just got 9mm for $.17 a round for round, and $.30 for hollow points, 243 for $.62 a round (kids!!!!!!!), 308 for $.44 a round, and 7.62 for $.23 a round, at SGAmmo.

Still OK IMO.

Yeah 9mm is cheap as of now 10mm is never cheap 29.3 cents a round right now but I love the knockdown power and I can drill nails with that Glock.

Ouch. One reason I went 9mm instead of .40 was to offset the cost of the son's 243. I know, terrible logic at some level, but as I go through the process of teaching the younger son both pistols and rifles there has to be repatition and I don't need the repetition to burn-up shooting budget.

Having added a SCUBA budget recently, it's not like the shooting budget and hockey budget aren't being squeezed! But we can combine two!!! :-)
