The Chiefs have reached an agreement with Sammy Watkins on a new 1-year deal that will pay him a base of $9m for 2020 with an incentive package that can reach $16m, a source tells me.

The move creates $5m in cap space for the Chiefs to operate this offseason.

5 catches for 96 yards a game in the playoffs. Most of them at huge moments.

His cap hit was an albatross, but damn he balled out when in counted.

Add all of Sammy's games w/KC together (116 rec 1,656 yds).

Divide by the number of gms he started and finished (26).

Avg = 4.46 rec per gm/63.6 yards per gm.

= 71 rec and 1,017 yards per 16 games.

He wasn't getting it on the open market this year either. Makes sense to be a role player for 2 years and cash in bigger on his last contract.
