Nzoner's Game Room>Sutton's Defense Won't Dictate Or Attack
petegz28 06:39 PM 08-17-2018
His defense lacks any sense of toughness and attack. He doesn't dictate anything. When he blitzes he blitzes to blitz and not to dictate what the ofense can and cannot do.

Take Wade Phillips on the other hand. The guy instantly upgrades any defense he coaches regardless of talent. Why? Because he has a defense that dictactes what an offense must do. Not sit back trying to defend against any and everything possible.

Preseason or not, toughness and an attacking mentality are something that shows regardless. Sutton's defenses are soft, reactionary and undisciplined.

How this guy still has a job bogles the minds of most. But I am afraid what we've seen the last few years is what we will see again. Minimal attack, dependency on a turnover. Lots of time on the field defensively.

Did you have a surgical procedure to have "your football eyes" implanted, and are they removable so you can have your everyday eyes in for the rest of the week?

Dipshit.

Just like with the Eagles, Fat Andy will defend Sutton for life. Don't worry Sutton lovers, you will be called out once again this year and of course you will have new excuses ready.

I remembered 2015 being top 10. Didn't realize that 2014 was. But even if the numbers from the last 5 years are similar overall, the units have not been close the last two years, and it appears ours could be worse than ever this year. A really good coordinator would have righted the ship by now. I feel like the talent is there to at least be average if not above average. We'll see what happens in a game that matters, with (hopefully) a roster at full strength.

Dorsey is drafting well on defense for the Browns and all he has to show for his time with us is...Marcus Peters? Who isn't even on the roster anymore. Damn.

.....
In the postseason, against postseason caliber teams bringing their A-game, living off turnovers doesn't work. You have to actually be able to get stops on defense when the offense isn't turning the ball over and this defense can't do that.

On the bright side, if Sutton fails we're in good shape to set up the next DC. Decent young personnel, a lot more cap flexibility (Houston can be restructured), and a coaching staff that's easy to get rid of. Might actually help Mahomes and Veach too - the D gets blamed for any shortcomings, Veach can blame the D's issues on the old regime.

The Chiefs know the fans are really pissed at Sutton. I can't imagine Sutton will have a long leash at all.

How do you know this? They haven’t played a single meaningful pro game yet

Just think back a few years….Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, hell…Deron Cherry..

Pre-Season games. They never showed much but you always knew that they were fine. Now? The first teamers walk out there at the beginning of a game and blow chunks for the entire time they are out there - and you know that it is nothing more than a precursor to the regular season.

Until Reid wakes the hell up and gets a new D Coordinator - this is what it will be.

Let me guess, you played a little football in high school and probably even started a few games. Is that how you developed such keen "football eyes?"
