Obviously these are cherry picked plays. For every successful deep pass there were 10 under thrown passes, and for every deep pass attempt there were 10 wide receivers running down the field wide open that he didn't throw the ball to.
I never thought that he was physically incapable of throwing deep. What I saw while he was with us was a QB that seemed to have a mental block that forced him to take the check down instead of risking a deep pass.
But, the way he mentored Mahomes washed away all my hatred. I will always remember Mahomes when I think about the Alex Smith era of Kansas City Chiefs football.
I appreciate what alex did. He made us respectable again...unfortunately anytime I think of this era I just think of blowing it against indy...pittsburgh and Tennessee... [Reply]
I hope he isn't really intent on playing football again though. I hope he is just saying that he's coming back so he keeps his contract and medical coverage etc. [Reply]
Bill is very well connected around the NFL. Doesn't usually go public with his nuggets, but I can vouch to say he's extremely reliable with numerous private ones over the last few years.
Sounds like Alex Smith, if healthy, is plan A for the Bears this offseason. https://t.co/Yt09NELdZ4

Probably hoping Trubisky can learn from Alex for a year like Patrick did. Sucks for Alex to have to be a mentor again but he probably has a good career as a QB coach/OC later, if he wants it. [Reply]
