I really can't get over how fucking awful he was on Sunday. And even when he's been sub-par in the past, he's never been THAT bad.
I really can't say I've seen a worse T performance in 5+ years. I mean he was just laughably terrible and it was because he seemed to have just forgotten every technique/coaching moment he's had for the last 10 years. How a guy thinks he's gonna get that job done just dropping his head and lunging forward is beyond me.
And he did it often. I can't imagine he's generally that awful in practice, etc... because that's the kind of stuff you don't see Power 5 college players doing with regularity. He wouldn't stay on scholarship doing that shit, let alone make an NFL roster.
It had to be a one-off. Right?
Last Sunday was how I expected him to be at be LT all the time before I was pleasantly surprised by ok to decent play the 2 weeks before that. Hopefully it was a one time thing and he can go back to being average until Fisher comes back. But I never expected him to have the footspeed or fluidity needed to be an LT so it was very odd to me when they decided he would be our backup LT in the season instead of keeping him at guard. I’m hoping it was just an off game but he was clearly disinterested or scared shitless.
He dropped his head on a CB blitz and allowed Moore to get around and sack Mahomes too. Fucking horrible. There’s no way he thought the the CB was going to try to bull rush him. There’s no excuse for his effort Sunday night. [Reply]
If he had just been beaten by Houston I’d feel a bit better. Houston is still a good pass rusher and Sunday was clearly his Super Bowl.. but he was generally shit the entire night. Didn’t matter who was in front of him and that’s a bit worrisome. [Reply]

I don't think he was scares but I've always said he's overly aggressive. He seems to think he can just bully and use his strength at all times and it's going to work. So he just puts his head down thinking if he gets a hold of the DE he can just push him around. [Reply]

I almost take comfort in just how terrible he was.
Look - there's no WAY that he's just that bad in general. None. Guys that play like that regularly, even in practice, don't stay on the team. He'd have been cut by now if that was his regular performance.
He just didn't have it. I guess that's what it looks like on days that a backup quality player brings his D- game at a non-skill position. When a WR is struggling, he starts to press, his technique falls apart and everything comes unglued. Well I guess if a guy with fringe skills in the trenches starts to press and his technique falls apart - that's how it looks.
I refuse to believe he's truly that bad. It was shocking. [Reply]

It makes me almost subscribe to the idea that some of the guys partied for Kelce birthday the previous night. [Reply]

I don't think Jordan Black ever had a game that bad. [Reply]
