A friend and former colleague who has been in the clubhouse told me players have expressed not being “part of the study group” as root cause of issues with Matheny.
^ we had this conversation last week
I spoke with another friend this week who works for the Royals and is in the clubhouse daily. His counterpart in St. Louis also spoke about playing favorites due to who did/didn’t attend bible study and even riding people for performance and saying the reason they weren’t doing well was because they weren’t coming to bible study. It was a quote from '16 and yes, a LOT of information emerged. The fact that Goold even felt the need to speak to it in '16 when the team was playing well suggested plenty of smoke.
And then yes, additional details came out over time as reporters who aren't nearly as embedded with the Cardinals (Saxon and Bernie) started to mention it and dig into it more.
But a good point was made here - given the wealth of obvious reasons not to hire him - if he IS the hire, what can the reason be?
There's a fun little legal term that kiiiinda works here but in the inverse - expressio unius est exclusio alterius - the idea is that when you have a list of things and something is not on that list, it can be inferred that the omission was intentional.
Well here we have a whole slew of easy reasons not to hire Mike Matheny, a man who wears his religion on his sleeve. And a really really religious GM. Anybody really wanna try to argue that religion isn't the reason he gets this gig, presuming he gets it?
But like I said - you don't need to speak to his faith at all to explain why he shouldn't get the job. It's just fairly amazing to me that his faith is likely to be the only reason he might... [Reply]

If this guy is hired I may not watch a game the entire time. [Reply]

We didnt need inside sources, we had eyes. Those who attended bible study, talked about it publicly, got more playing time, more leeway to screw up and still stay in the lineup. Those young players who weren't in the bible study, got pulled for an 0-4 start. The player who was in the bible study hitting .220 for months, still plays. The pitcher in the bible study blows game after game and plays. The pitcher not in the bible study makes one mistake, blows one game, they are benched or out of favor with the manager. It was obvious to everyone. [Reply]

Bottom line is that Prison Bitch fancies himself a contrarian so he felt the need to wander into the Cardinals thread and support Mike Matheny since Cardinals fans loathed him.
And now he's gotta double down on it.
I'm no more inclined to get lessons on the Chiefs from a Seahawks fan than I am to listen to a Royals fan tell me what I was in the middle of for 5+ years. When I was down in spring training in '14 and there were rumblings from people who DO actually know folks in the clubhouse (I do not), that means something. And when those only got louder with time - well, it is what it is.
And in the end, it's kinda like the whole "Planet Nine" thing. We can't see it, we can't prove it. But we know that the solar system and the way things behave don't really make sense without it or something like it. Well even if MM never came out and said it - a lot of the things he said/did don't make a hell of a lot of sense without it. And when you combine it with the rumblings and later reporting from sources that were more willing to corroborate it - I mean seriously, is this a hill that anyone wants to die on?
No, of course not. But PB had to stir shit in the Cardinals thread so now he's pot committed. Oh well - I feel bad for any other Royals fan if this Matheny thing goes through but as for PB, well he'll deserve this shit.

Enjoy it, ass.
Moore and Matheny can take part in anti porn seminars and pray the gay away classes while the team loses 100 games and dudes arms are turned into jelly. [Reply]
Except as it relates to you. Enjoy him - I'm sure you won't regret sucking his dick from raw ignorance for several years just to be a troll in the Cardinals thread.
This is your horse, buddy - ride him all the way... [Reply]

I’m on your ass about this because I have higher expectations of you. When tards spew slanderous innuendo nobody cares - but you have an image (which you’ve earned) here of almost being a beat writer of the thread. Posting this garbage casts that into doubt.
If you want to engage in gutter fandom, Ill take you less seriously here. [Reply]

Is PB the trolliest of the trolls? The guy got an A in his Mastery of Trolling class a few years back and just earned his PhD in Trolling last Spring.
I'm convinced he's a Raider/Donkey fan that is so deeply versed in the way of the troll that he was able to get a grant from the government, so that he can spend as much time as he can trolling CP. He also poses as a Royals fan, Kansas Jayhawk fan, and a staunch conservative. He's probably going to be published in the American Journal of Psychology for his prospective observational study that focuses on people that have been infected with Chiefsitis, which is a life long illness. I applaud him for keeping this going for so long. [Reply]

I think the reality is that he's just a miserable douchebag. [Reply]
