Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Same here with the citrus punch.

I enjoyed it enough to knock back a four pack while grilling last night.

I was fortunate enough to finally try Two Hearted Ale at Q39 in Kansas City a couple weeks ago. It was outstanding on tap. I bought a four pack on the way out of town, and really should have bought more. I ran through the four pack this weekend.

Another one I got my hands on up there that I can get down here in Texas/Louisiana is Schlafly Pumpkin Ale. Super good, but IMO it's pretty heavily spiced. Takes away from any natural pumpkin taste a bit.

Did I hear correctly that they went to 4 packs exclusively for the collaborations and did away with the 750's?

The coffee porter test brew I had at BLVD answered my question of what Surly's Coffee Bender would be like if it were a porter. Which could be dangerous to my wallet.

I'll continue to stand on the table for Two Hearted. Still my daily drinker after years. I'll try different beers, but I always come back to TH.

WAY too spiced, IMO.

O'Fallon Brewery, also out of the STL area makes a much better Pumpkin IMO.

I've only found it in 4-packs.

Yeah, I had a friend of my wife order me a Schlafly Pumpkin while out one night. I didn't care for it because of the heavy spice but played it off not to be rude. Waitress came around while I was in the can and my wife told her to just bring me what I was having. Didn't go over well.

I don't blame you at all. I don't recall what I paid for the four pack, but if it's decently priced, I'd be in your same boat if it was in my area. As it stands, I drive to Houston once every month or so and stock up on Tank 7. It's my go to.

I can get TH as cheap as $7.50 a four pack. Usually closer to $9.

Reading the description of the O' Fallon on Untapp'd, it sounds very similar to Schlafly. Both seasoned with Cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. If O' Fallon is easier on the spices than Schlafly, I could imagine it being very enjoyable.

Yep. That's the pumpkin beer I go for if I really want one.

I loved Schlafly Pumpkin the first couple years it came out, but they changed something... letting it sit in the fridge a while helps, but I'm all about Southern Tier Warlock and Crown Valley Pumpkin Smash.

Speaking of Schlafly though, after opening another disappointing Boulevard Imperial Stout (tart cherry), opened a Schlafly Bourbon Stout... delicious.
