Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.

Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.

I am ready to see some water balls!

Nice work.

Anybody know how to get a golf course to let you dive for golf balls? I have some scuba diving experience, and I'm looking to start a little business on the side. Probably sell ProV's and other higher class golf balls that way. One trip in the lake and if you find 3000-5000 balls. You figure you will yield AT LEAST .40 a ball if you get to keep them, but I'm sure the golf courses would want a rake.

Call and ask. A great deal of courses likely already have contracts with someone though.

If you don't mind gators TPC Sawgrass would be the best one to have.
17 alone would keep you busy

The water surrounding the 17th hole at TPC-Sawgrass will see 120,000 stray golf balls this year.

"It takes a special person to want to be a golf ball diver," said Dick Smith, owner of Midwest Diving Specialists, a diving school in Normal, Ill., that offers a golf ball diving course. "That person has to love treasure hunting and be extremely testosterone-laden."That's because diving doesn't come without a price.
Divers routinely report getting bitten by water moccasins and snapping turtles, and the ultimate impediment to collecting the used golf ball in Florida is the alligator.
"When I was diving in Virginia and the Carolinas, I was worried about the turtles, the snakes and the muskrats," said Larry Marcelli, owner of Golf Balls Galore, which takes in more than 2 million golf balls a year from courses in southwest Florida. "Then I got to Florida and all of that flew out the window. Those other animals weren't going to try and eat me."
Dettlaff says that divers will find alligators; two 8-foot gators recently were spotted on the 18th hole. But the upper-class golfing clientele -- players who pay between $119 and $257 per round, depending on the time of year -- makes finds in the waters of Sawgrass less interesting than those at some venues.
Marcelli says one of his divers found a person sitting at the wheel of a Volkswagen at the bottom of a lake in Fort Myers, Fla. Other reported submerged finds have included handguns, golf carts, a complete set of clubs with a wallet in it, a Barbie doll and a full telephone booth.

Paul Goydos shot 59 today, and he was barely the best score on the course. Steve Stricker shot 60. A bunch of nobodys play in this thing and 81 guys shot in the 60's today.

This was at TPC @ Deere Run outside of the quad cities. I've actually played there before. While I didn't think it was insanely hard (from the blue tees only), it had alot of challenging holes, and these guys play from the furthest back tees obviously and I'm sure they step it up a notch on the pins and dry out the greens a little when the PGA Tour comes to town.

This is a course that has a 75.6 rating where the pros play, and a slope of 145 and these guys just shredded it. Go to your local course, and 99.9% of the time you won't even see the tips near that hard. That just proves how good these guys are, and I'm sure all of these pros consider this a slouchy course even if it's one of the most challenging in that area of the country.

John Deere Classic is annually the one of the lowest scoring tournaments of the year.

Broke the shaft on my driver today (Ping G10) when my bag fell off the cart. Fuck. Now I have to decide between reshafting it, or just buying a new driver.

To top it off, completely imploded on my back nine today - 38-49. Fuck.

Just shot a 39 after hitting 7 of 9 greens.

20 fucking putts, including 3 3 putts.

Of course, I also had an albatross on the course, but it wasn't a double eagle, it was my bitching and pouting wife. :-)

Call Ping to see the cost of re-shafting it before getting it done at a local shop. They have been very good about pricing in the past but it has been a while since I have broken on from them.

From my experience that is a pretty typical way to get to a 39 since most green hit in regulation leave long puts. Unless you were missing short puts there is nothing wrong with that.

Hamas,

I was curious what your take was on the Ozik shaft on the Adams hybrid. Basically whether it looked like legit versus some proprietary shaft. I was thinking of buying another one to replace my Adams Pro in my current bag (the other is in my bag at my parents house). My current has a Proto VS.

This ebay ad has a decent look at it once you click on the pic:

Ouch. Sounds like one of those rounds were you are playing well but you should be lighting it up.

From GolfWRX:

The shaft is a proprietary Ozik shaft made for Adams and is based off the Code 6 for driver and Code 7 for the Fairway woods. The Adams Oziks have a little more torque compared to the regular Code series.

It's easier on a lot of shafts than others. My Fubuki in my FT-9 is legit b/c it's a 63 gram shaft with the all gray paint. The 60 gram shafts with the reddish font are the "seconds".
