I'm starting a new shift next monday starting at 630 am. usually go to bed at 3am and even they it's hard. Was reading about melatonin supposedly it works. I used Benadryl on days I had to be up super early but half the time it didn't work or i'd be groggy. [Reply]
It can still give you a bit of a hangover effect, but you are better off using it than Benadryl, which will just make you tired after about two weeks without actually making you sleep.
Most of your benefit will be derived from changing your sleep hygiene/schedule. [Reply]

I read it might not be the best thing if you take an SSRI which I do. Then again they say dont drink while taking an SSRI but I do. [Reply]
I take 5mg every night, and it definitely helps me sleep. I've read you're not supposed to rely on it constantly as it wrecks your body's ability to self-regulate, but screw it--- I need to sleep and I already wake up four or five times a night to piss anyway. [Reply]

I tired it years ago when I would have to fly from to the east coast all the time and that was my experience as well. :-) [Reply]
