Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

I'm not sure how much volume BKS Artisan will be moving right away, but I'd be happy to throw you some of those too when they start having releases. He just got all of the permits straightened out early this week, so beer is brewing now at the least!

Having my first Arrogant Bastard Ale. Very complex, pretty strong. I can dig it.

Your boy finally won something in his life. Prop got the bananas foster treatment this year, which doesn't tickle the taint for me really, but I'm sure it will be steller. I'm more excited about the Bourbon County Reserve and what the street market may have for sale.

You remember when KCUnited was just one of us? I know I do.

(Congrats. That looks like a good time.)

I'm pretty stoked.

Also announced is that the Goose Island Brewpub here, which was the last of Goose's production sites to go over to Anheuser (just last year), has been under renovation for the last half year and upon reopening will have Bourbon County Stout on tap year round. Unfortunately, they stripped down the old English pub vibe for more of a Chipotle look, but that's pretty exciting news.

Nice! I'd be happy to take a bottle off your hands, given your lack of excitement... :-)

Had a buddy who went last year, said it was a good time, though the line was around the block to even get in.

Haha, I forgot about winning the opportunity to buy that bottle for $100, but truth be told, that "raffle" was rigged for me as I was literally that liquor store's first customer (it's right around the corner) and to this day drop a ton of money in there...on beer. LOL, I walked over to that same liquor store the other week, with this halo on my head, and dude was like 'fuck man just call me and tell me what you want and I'll run it over to your place for you'. What could go wrong with that arrangement?

Anyway, support your local liquor stores if you find a good one, folks.

Ha, I'm plenty excited, but the gods didn't bless me with the palate for rare barrel aged pastry stouts like they did other beer nerds. I didn't win last year, or the year before, I'm actually 1-4 on Goose lotteries since I've lived here. Not sure about last year, but they have set group times to pick up your bottles. I'm still expecting an epic shitshow though.

Funny you say that.

As you know, I love Bourbon. I drink most of the good stuff neat.

The bourbon barrel aged stouts I've tasted don't do much for me and actually have a very funky (not pleasant) taste to me. Not something I enjoy.

Go figure.

Last year's Prop was fantastic, though I'm a huge fan of BCBS, in general. Definitely curious about the bananas foster approach.

Out of curiosity, which have you tried?

I loved last year's Prop, but a lot of others didn't due to the smokiness of the chipotle. 2014 Prop might be the best beer I've ever had if I were to take the time to actually access all the beers I've had. Honestly, when I think banana flavor though, I think off-flavor yeast esters, so I need to get over that mentally going in.
