Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>Matt Miller’s “7 Rounds in 7 Days” Mock
The Franchise 12:22 PM 04-05-2021
Day 1

31. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: OT Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State

A right tackle for the most part in college, Teven Jenkins told me last month that he’s comfortable playing on the left side. That’s music to the ears of the Kansas City Chiefs, who couldn’t reel in a free agent left tackle.

Jenkins is a powerful run blocker and mean finisher when he gets his hands on a defender. He also has the size and length to be effective cutting off the backside on all those beautiful Patrick Mahomes rollout passes.

Brett Veach could always surprise us with a wide receiver pick here, but Jenkins feels like a match of need and value they can’t ignore.

Day 2

63. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: WR Nico Collins, Michigan

After shoring up the offensive line with earlier picks and free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs look to address a wide receiver room that lost depth and ability through free agency (Sammy Watkins) and a lack of development. Nico Collins would give KC a big receiver (6’4”, 210 lbs) but keep their track team in tact with his 4.4 speed.

Day 3

94. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: LB Baron Browning, Ohio State

The Chiefs checked off the biggest needs at offensive tackle and wide receiver; now it’s time to address a defense that quietly has a few needs. Linebacker is one of them where Anthony Hitchens is no longer a fit in the scheme. Willie Gay, Jr. might be part of the future, but they need an impact player. Baron Browning excels at weakside linebacker and in space. He’s ideal for this scheme.

Day 4

136. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: CB D.J. Daniel, Georgia

General manager Brett Veach has to hit some home runs in this draft to re-tool the roster. D.J. Daniel could be this year’s version of L’Jarius Sneed for him as a Day 3 surprise. Daniel doesn’t have great size, but his agility and versatility could make him a dangerous slot cornerback.

144. Kansas City Chiefs*
The Pick: TE Brevin Jordan, Miami

I’ve gathered from readers that I’m a lot lower on Brevin Jordan than most, but the shoulder injury in 2020 and leg injury in 2019 are concerns when moving his game forward. He has awesome pass-catching traits when healthy, though, and that could make him a fun TE3 and H-back option in Kansas City.

That's a pretty good draft honestly.

Nico Collins is a stud. All he needed was a decent QB. Loved his tape at Michigan
