Sure. Pete made fun of someone for being math-challenged. He then posted this:

Let me help you....1000/4=.4

If I understand his argument he is stating 2 out 1000 people die is acceptable but 3 or 4 out of 1000 requires a country-wide lock down.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said a containment area will be set up in the city of New Rochelle as Westchester County works to stop the spread of coronavirus. Schools and facilities within will be closed for two weeks, and the National Guard will deploy to this area to help support the community.

Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zuckersaid the area is a circle with a radius of about one mile.

Starting on Thursday, facilities and schools within the area will be closed for two weeks. The National Guard will help deliver food to homes and clean public spaces in the containment area, Cuomo said, describing the plan as a "dramatic action."

This will go on through March 25.

There's no logical reason to ever allow for allowing mass gatherings once you go down the path of banning them in the short term.

He said .2 out of 1,000. Not 2 out of 1,000.

French mayor defends Smurf rally after outcry over virus

https://news.yahoo.com/french-mayor-...001955753.html

Rennes (France) (AFP) - The mayor of a small French town on Tuesday defended hosting a record-breaking gathering of 3,500 people dressed as Smurfs at the weekend, after accusations that the event increased the risks of spreading the coronavirus.

"We must not stop living... it was the chance to say that we are alive," mayor Patrick Leclerc of Landerneau in western France told AFP.

The gathering came a day before France banned all gatherings of more than 1,000 in a bid to contain the spread of the virus, which has infected 1,412 people and killed 25 in the country.

The Smurf rally drew criticism particularly from the media in Italy, which is battling Europe's most intense outbreak, where La Repubblica newspaper described the rally as "potentially a very dangerous viral bomb".

He said .2 not 2. There’a an order of magnitude difference there. Now I have no idea about the veracity of his numbers but 3 or 4 out of 1000 compared to .2 out of 1000 is an increase of 15-20 times.

That's nonsense akin to saying that once you evacuate the streets for an air raid that you can never turn off the klaxon.

He didn't say .2% of 1000. He said .2 out of 1000...so that would be the same as 1 out of 5000.

He also said 3 to 4 out of 1000....so that would be the same as 15 to 20 out of 5000.

Get it now?

So are BWillie's stats accurate or no?

pete was too scared to confront his neighbor over a scary porch light and thought the Chiefs wouldn't sniff the playoffs. Nobody should ever take anything he says seriously.

I'm not a math person. I've never claimed to be. I just want to know if 3 of 4 people out of 1000 in that age bracket are likely to die.
