NFL odds: After Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes is now the overwhelming NFL MVP favorite
Frank Schwab 2 hrs ago
We can cease and desist with any debate about someone other than Patrick Mahomes being the NFL MVP favorite.
You’ll hear people argue that Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Alvin Kamara or anyone else should be “in the conversation,” but the only real talk is that the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is the overwhelming favorite until further notice. Everyone else is vying for NFL offensive player of the year, though Mahomes should probably win that too.
Sunday night’s heroics, leading a game-winning drive over the Las Vegas Raiders everyone knew was coming, solidified Mahomes’ position. He’s the best player in football and he’s having a phenomenal year.
The odds at BetMGM reflect that.
Mahomes is -118 to win MVP at BetMGM. Next on the list is Wilson at +350. Aaron Rodgers is +550 and nobody else is less than 12-to-1. [Reply]
If still relevant: Only ten players have won the Super Bowl and MVP in the same season, Bart Starr in 1966, Terry Bradshaw in 1978, Mark Moseley in 1982, Lawrence Taylor in 1986, Joe Montana in 1989, Emmitt Smith in 1993, Steve Young in 1994, Brett Favre in 1996 Terrell Davis in 1998 and Kurt Warner in 1999. Yes
The argument seems to be that Rodgers is more valuable to his team than Mahomes is to ours because even without Mahomes we would be a Strong playoff team.
That doesn’t mean that Mahomes isn’t a better player than Rodgers though. [Reply]

I love Mahomes and I am completely ecstatic that we have a "generational" talent at QB. BUT.......
Last nights "announcers" completely missed a Rodgers no look pass, and possibly another. Hard to say about the second one because of camera angle. Given the entire season...SO FAR... Rodgers has my vote for MVP (a vote that means nothing!) [Reply]

MVP- Most Valuable Player does not equal LBP-League Best Player.
Which player is most valuable??? A great QB on a great team? Or a great QB, carrying a mediocre team to the playoffs, on his back, by his incredible play alone?
MVP is a great accolade but it's a foot note. I just want Mahomes to get SB MVP! Super Bowl wins are forever!!!! [Reply]

But it’s not his incredible play alone. Their defense did a great job last night against the Titans. They have blown out a bunch of teams this year because of the defense. He also has a great OL, a better receiver than anyone on the KC roster, better RB than anyone on KC roster. The OL/RB have taken a lot of stress off Rodgers this year. Lot of easy throws in the play action game. [Reply]

Rodgers will get it because he has better stats. The surrounding talent is almost irrelevant
Quarterbacks carry “bad teams” to the playoffs every year. They don’t win MVP. The MVP goes to whatever QB is having the best overall season [Reply]

Valid points. But better RB? Really? Not disputing, just questioning from lack of input/knowledge. [Reply]

I would put hill over Adams. Jones is better than we have right now. The o line is better in gb. Their defense is better but that's mostly just linebackers. [Reply]
