Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

So, it's apparently still a shitty movie.

I bet it improves it...the pacing/editing issues probably get corrected mostly.

i understand complaints on pacing and seeming incohesive at times *due to large cuts to the story* but i don't understand those that complain it isn't like Marvel movies.

Better than people give it credit for.

I didn't like every scene being dark as fuck, though. It was hard to follow the action.

I'm looking forward to the DVD release.

Even my 8 year old prefers watching movies at home versus the theaters because they're dark and often too loud.

It looks as if the Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition has leaked online a bit early.

Various thoughts from one person, they're watching it currently and updating the spoilers live on Reddit I believe:

The major difference is that 95% of the flow issues are resolved. From a story standpoint, the Africa scenes, Clark's investigation into Batman, Lex's manipulating of Clark, and Lois' investigation leading to Lex are much clearer. But it's essentially the same story otherwise.
So far, it's not that different. The pacing is much better already though (I'm only like 50 minutes in). Scenes last longer, so it's not so choppy.
It's the same movie though, so it's not like a radically different experience.

Spoiler!

I'm definitely going to get it and watch it. I'm looking forward to it. I know I'm in the minority but I did enjoy the movie...

I've always been a huge Superman fan and I like Batman as well.

This is where I'm at as well. I think people get their expectations too high these days. It was a fun movie to watch in my opinion.

I liked it better the 2nd time for sure. Excited for the ultimate edition to fix most of the pacing and leaving out some back story that shouldn't have been cut.

I don't think it was that. Captain America had huge expectations and it still did great. I think most people found that the pacing on BvS was very terrible and the scenes felt random with no flow in between them. The story also wasn't that great to make up for it.

The themes really weren't all that different. Same basic idea, different characters, different approaches, different directors.

There were plot holes and problems with CW but I think it was just a more fun movie (popcorn movie) and SVB was trying too hard to do too much...

I think the public is hitting that "superhero movie fatigue" wall. Maybe they have for a couple years now, idk. The MCU also has been at that since what, 2008? They've had much more time to see what they can improve on in future installations. I've never been a comic book guy but I've loved what the MCU has done. I've definitely engulfed myself in the whole universe. I'm really intrigued by what DC will come up with as well.

Ultimate Edition out today on digital.

This tweet I haven't watched but Jon Schnepp liking the UE has me excited. He did not like the theatrical version.

Bout an hour in, and I like it way more. It's still a really busy plot, but the pacing doesn't feel so rushed - like, "how can we show what we absolutely need 1 and jump to the next plot point."

I'm sure others will disagree, and others still just not like it. I saw it in the theatre, and thought it was average, so far, this feels like a definite improvement.

My one gripe is some of the stuff seems like it was held back because they knew the extended cut was the plan before it even opened.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was better. There were some other fair criticisms, but my biggest and first complaint... it was like four movies crammed into one. Batman/Superman, Lex Luthor, and Justice League setup... and after all that, oh yeah let's throw in Doomsday. There were some decent ideas in there, they just didn't get time to breathe.
