Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs [give Kelce a raise]
Shag 12:29 PM 04-29-2024

Just confirmed with the agent that Travis Kelce’s contract is not an extension through 2027, but rather a renegotiated 2-year contract that replaces the final two seasons of his previous deal in KC.

Kelce was set to earn $30.25M, but can now bag $34.25M, $17M of which is… https://t.co/gJtZ31JmT6

I thought we would trade him to the Falcons to finish out his career.

That worked out well for someone else.

Advantage Kelce.
Tyreek was sort of doomed by his actions in college. Never gonna be a big money endorsement person with that type of ugly domestic violence in your background. Probably hard to get a celebrity relationship with that kind of background as well. So you try to squeeze every dollar you can from your NFL career on the field.

Way too early to judge. Let's just hope he's serviceable.

He’s not wrong, though. Aaron Donald was just mulling retirement a year ago, signed that extension then promptly retired.

On topic, this is pretty cool.

There’s a high likelihood that this move backfires on us a bit; but even if it does, you just have to charge that shit to the game. He’s done so much for the franchise and never once held out, squeezed us for an absurd payday, etc.

He’s one of the most underpaid players in NFL history, along with other great tight ends such as Gronkowski & Tony Gonzalez. The elite tight end market is drastically undervalued compared to elite receivers.

Right, he could have tried to pull the Jimmy Graham move and argued that he played significant snaps at WR to squeeze us for bigger paydays and never did, at least publicly. I have to assume he didn’t privately either because we almost certainly would have caved.

This place has mellowed a bit , nobody losing their minds about drafting TE in the 4th then extending Travis , you guys must have really loved Moeaki to lose your minds over the Travis pick.
