This is 1979, Reagan is about to be huge in world events .

It set the mood of the time, where this movie was shot, presumably some time in the 50s, with everyone waiting around for Ronnie to come in and fix the production, just like present day Fargo in this season.

Also, loved how the Bingo scene could have been lifted right out of The Big Lebowski, right down to the group dynamics and the names of the group members.

I was all with the rest...Carter and whatnot...but that black and white movie.....I wasn't with it. I DID just crack up when the indian was like...so what are we doing. hahaha. I'm from jersey. :-)

It was B&W because it was a movie shot in the 50s.

It puts the 'present' 1979 situation in perspective. Back then Reagan was the hero in the movies, and he's about to be the savior on the world stage.

It shows that these stories are cyclical and there's nothing new under the sun.
