As of last year Russell Wilson didn’t receive 1 MVP vote which is truly astounding.
Russell Wilson fell off a cliff midway through the season. Wilson was all you heard about in the MVP race for the first half of the season, but 70% of his TDs came from the first 8 weeks of the season. Why would you cast a vote for him when Aaron Rodgers was clearly better?

He means in his whole career not just last year

Because that's what elite QBs do.
You don't think watson would have won the Superbowl if he was on the Seahawks in 2013? Russell Wilson was basically Alex Smith in the post season those years.

That's why the superbowl thing is purely situational. Seahawks at their worst with wilson have never been a worse environment or more incompetent than the Texans.

Well... He's never really had one of those years where he torched the league. He's just been consistently good on a team that limits pass attempts.

Even now that hes gotten his yards up he's had to play in a league where Mahomes goes off for 5000 yards and 50 TDs, Lamaar Jackson pulls 36 TDs out of his ass while smashing the QB rushing record, and Aaron Rodgers drinks from the fountain of youth.

What year is Russell's best argument for getting MVP snubbed? 2015 when Newton won? That's a tough sell when Newton led a team that typically didnt win to a 15-1 record and Russell's team didn't even win their division.

Yeah he doesn't have an MVP but he's been in the running basically every year. And this is despite playing for Bill OBrien and Romeo Crennel and the worst front office in the entire league by far. His coach/GM thought trading one of if not the best WR in football for a 2nd round pick and a brokedick RB was a good trade FFS. And despite that, he still had 4800 yards on 70% completion and 33 TDs, not to mention 400 yards rushing and 4 Touchdowns.

But yeah, not elite.
I won't say 'not elite' but I think it's fair to say we still don't know.

You don't know elite until you see them in the shit.

There's performance, and then there's performance on the big stages.

It's not his fault yet, heck the Rams are gambling that it's not Stafford's fault yet either.

But Watson remains promising and intriguing, which is different [but not incompatible with] elite.

For instance, Romo spent an entire career at promising and intriguing, . . . Rivers too. Neither cracked elite.

One big thing that knocks Deshaun IMO is his awful loss to us in the divisional round.

He got spotted a 24 point lead, had Hopkins and all of his weapons healthy, want playing a great defense (no Chris Jones that game) and he just fizzled out badly.

Serious question.

Could Mahomes overcome the coaching of O’Brien?

I'm thinking Mahomes would have pissed Bill O off by not calling the plays he wanted him to, and would have gotten benched.

Playoff game against the Colts is even worse in my mind. Easily the most talented iteration of the Texans defense Watson had with Clowney and Mathieu, and the offense managed just 7 against the Colts.

Coaching didn’t lose them that game

That is the game that pushed me from thinking Deshaun may in fact become an elite QB to Deshaun's a good QB, but the chances of him winning more than just a few playoff games, but he'll never make a SB.

That first half was flukish all the way around. We gave them 14 points, if not 17, on the way to their 24-0 lead. Then they turned right around and gifted us those points right back in the second quarter.

That would be a fun question. Say you keep the draft order for this coming draft and every QB is available to be drafted at their current contract as if they were the team that had signed the contract.

You can take a QB already in the league or you can draft one that has entered the draft.

So the Jags take Mahomes at his current contract with full liability for the remainder of his signing bonus etc as if they had been the team that had originally signed that contract in the first place not KC. So essentially they trade positions with KC.

Then what happens?

The Broncos trade up to select Paxton Lynch.

So, in this Mahomes isn't a Chief?

Then what happens is . . . . who gives a fuck?
