So our interest in Collins seems to have been overblown just a wee bit.

Chiefs have been out several other teams to labnd Tyrann Mathieu on a deal worth $14m per year, as ESPN first reported. They have not had any contact yet with Eric Berry though that would be a massive amount of money to tie up in two safeties

Seems that they view Berry as their "Box Safety".

I'd take a healthy Berry around the LoS for sure. He's still a smart, heads up player who can tackle.

I like this. It's a heck of a lot better than Landin Collins 6 years/80+ million

A) years are shorter
B) If he gets hurt they are back to square one (terrible on the backend like last year) so this is only a net gain.
C) It almost guarantees at least someone that knows how to play football on the back end will be on the field for the Chiefs when Berry is day to day for 16 games next year.

This looks exactly like the Watkins contract. Pay him a big cap hit only in 2020 with a way out in year 3 if needed.

Rapoport saying this was our number 1 guy and we literally stole him from the Texans. He was originally gonna make around 10 mil but the Collins deal shook things up

Chiefs twitter seems to think this means Berry is gone. Good thing is we'll know by Friday. If they pay his bonus on Friday he's not going anywhere.
