More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

Especially when he was having a discectomy. In order to treat the symptoms of damaged/ruptured discs, he had them surgically removed. The discs are what prevents bone from rubbing on bone. A lumbar discectomy is for relief. It's not ever a "fix". [Reply]

Ford was a linebacker-sized DE going up against NFL tackles.
Injuries were going to be unavoidable.
He seems like a nice dude. I hate that he went out in KC the way he did, and then when we won the title our guys clowned on him at the Super Bowl parade.
He likely cost us a Super Bowl (which I've argued was actually cost by Veach and Sutton, to say nothing of a 0 point first half by Reid/Mahomes), but he was a big reason why we got to that point. The Chiefs led the league in sacks his last year, and haven't lead the league in sacks since (only 1 season, though). [Reply]

I think he did cost the SB; but I think that it's a blessing in disguise. If KC had won that SB, it's very doubtful Sutton would have been fired. And, because of that, the chance at a dynasty would be much lower.
Veach has to know from the trainer that Dee wasn’t ever going to be right again. Physically and mentally.
Hopefully, Willie Gay (what we used the pick on) turns into the guy we hope he can become. If he does, he will be a force in the middle of our defense for the next 10 years. [Reply]

Many of us here knew what he was. I highly doubt Veach needed that much input from trainers or doctors. One look at his medical history should have been enough of a red flag. [Reply]
