The Lounge>Eric Berry Released!
T-post Tom 02:15 PM 03-13-2019
It's done. The spirit is free. (Don't go towards the light.)

The #Chiefs have released S Eric Berry. End of an era in KC.

The Chiefs have released Berry with a post-June 1 designation, a source tells me. Means the Chiefs will save around $9.5m on the cap this year and $5.5m next year.

By the end of the year it sure felt like Berry and Houston were just playing out the string. Although Houston rallied at the end of the year. But that kind of attitude is going to infect other players on the D. Players know when someone is just going through the motions and saying the right things vs. someone who is killing themselves to win a ring.
They were old dudes with serious injuries. Some guys come back from ACLs and Achilles and play like before. Some guys can't do it. Them's the breaks.

Love the message here.

Veach and Reid just blew the defense the fuck up this offseason. Being that bad and taking away one of Mahomes’s opportunities at a Super Bowl is unacceptable. Up or out.

Are the pro shops letting us trade in our jerseys for Tyrann, no charge?

This is a philosophy change. It's a good nuke. A very good nuke.

Perhaps we can think of it as Veach finally opening the door to the shelter.

Had to be done.
You can’t pay a player that much money and get next to nothing in return.

I wish him the best and I really hope he catches on with another team.

Veach isn't kidding around. The defense has now jettisoned Houston, Ford, Nelson, and Berry. Those are some big names.

Alright...now make some moves to fix this defense

With Houston, Ford and Berry now all gone, casual Chiefs fans will be hard pressed to name a defensive player.

We are going to need a identity reference card for the defense next year.

I won’t know who’s name to cuss at.

Sorenson is the longest tenured Chiefs defensive player
