Nzoner's Game Room>Trying to find any silver lining
treeguy27 08:27 AM 10-19-2019
Just grasping at straws here to find any small positive from Mahomes' time off.

Any pressure that was on Mahomes to repeat as MVP and back up his stats from last year has been removed now. I honestly doubt that he was worried about it anyway, but now he can just go out and play loose and win games. The only stats to worry about now are the wins and losses. Again, I don't think Mahomes was concerned about it anyway but it would only be natural to want to validate last years performance.

They did a little segment on GMFB this morning about this.

Mike Garafolo said he’s talked to people within the organization who think it can be a blessing in disguise down the road as they learn to play more complementary football.

We're going to need to run the ball. We're going to need to play defense. We're going to need to do all the little things that we'd gotten sloppy with.

Andy's going to have to dust off the Alex Smith 2015 playbook. Screens and draws and short passes. Play-action.

We can absolutely be competitive while Mahomes is out, and will likely be a more fundamentally sound football team when he comes back. Other leaders are going to have to step up and lead by example. We already saw some of that Thursday.

This can bring the team together. This can absolutely be a positive, a gut-check.
Yep, you made the same point yesterday and I completely agree... you often got the feeling everyone was just standing around sucking on a big ol chili dog waiting for Money to pull another miracle out of his ass

Now they’re gonna be forced to rely on themselves instead of him, hopefully it pays off when he gets back

Andy's passing attack is like crack to him. I can see the mindset turn the moment 15 steps on that field.

"Patrick's back now, glad this 50/50 run pass bullshit can **** right off now, and I can get back to 80% passes."

Bieniemy needs to be in his ear constantly, trying to keep Andy in check on the balance, otherwise we just go back to square one, "Put it all on 15 and we're good". Hey O line, we arent even gonna try to make em think about the run. They're pinning their ears back and rushing with abandon every down.

Dont get him killed. Good luck.

Andy Reid is arguably the most double edged sword in coaching history.
You'd think with Bieniemy's background as a RB and RB coach that he'd already have been in Reid's ear more than he has...

One not to overlook is the next two games are NFC opponents, so in the event of tie-breaking, their losses hurt slightly less should they happen.

Packers 10 days post injury
Vikings 17 days post injury
Titans 24 days post injury

Everything that's already been said. They can finally figure out how to establish a run game. They can learn how to execute without MVP bailing them out of busted plays all the time. Patrick's ankle can heal along with his knee.

I just hope we don't drop back to back home games again because then they might rush Mahomes back earlier than they'd like. If we can keep things rolling well enough, I'd love to see him sit until after the bye week.

Andy will have to game plan more runs instead of leaning on the QB 95% of the time.

Related to more runs, Andy will have to call an entire game without the benefit of what Mahomes brings. That should help the team in every game from here on out.

Hopefully the defense will continue to play with the same intensity since they don't have Mahomes to bail them out of every game.

Same thing goes for special teams and the rest of the offense.

Mahomes ankle should be healed when he returns.

Absolutely.

Let's also keep in mind that mahomes is too tough to leave the game from injury. He was ready to battle through that ankle injury and play at 50% which is still pretty damn good. This is an awesome excuse to tell mahomes to chill for a few weeks. The idiots who think they have mahomes figured out because they limited him on a bad ankle will be in for a huge surprise when mahomes gets back better than ever. Let's not forget how dominant he looked in his only healthy half this season vs the jags.

Green Bay is gonna bring constant pressure all day long. Sherman needs to be in the game at least 50% of the time

Of course I want us to win. But I really don't give too much of a shit about whether we beat Green Bay or not. I'm chalking it up as a loss and it doesn't bother me much.

Pat being out due to his knee gives more time for his ankle to heal.

The Alex Smith playbook hasn't been brought out in a while so perhaps there is an element of surprise there.

They should have been doing that shit from the beginning.

Look at last season. Screens....misdirection....it was all working.

This year we went full 7 year old playing Madden. It’s going to work some of the times but not all the times. I hope we go back to what was working last season.

I don’t see us running that much more. Hell when Moore got in a rhythm it was like 6 straight passing plays. He won’t be slowed down. We will beat green bay
