In order to prevent us wasting precious years of Patrick Mahomes' career, Veach needs to work some magic this offseason. What's your advice for him? [Reply]
I love the 'take' from some that O-Line wasn't a problem till the Super Bowl.
It absolutely was. We just ignored it because it didn't cost us games. But it was gonna cost us at 'some' point. And it ended up happening at the worst possible time.
Our O-Line was a shit show all season last year. We couldn't run the ball worth shit when we needed to. For fucks sake, Andy Reid had CHAD HENNE throwing passes with our season on the line on 4th and 1 because he KNEW our shit show O-Line couldn't pick up that one yard if they tried to run it. Credit to Andy. It was the right call (even if it didn't work) because we WOULD have been stuffed had we tried to run it.
Our running game SUCKED last year because our O-Line sucked. Mahomes, Hill, Kelce and Andy's play calling can only cover up that shit for so long. Most D-Coordinator's in the league are smart guys and will eventually figure out how to stop someone or at least slow them down. If we had an AVERAGE O-Line last year (free of injuries, of course) then we probably go 19-0. This team is THAT good. But our shitshow O-Line held them back and made a lot of blowouts close games because they couldn't create a proper pocket for Pat and couldn't make consistent holes for CEH to run through.
We needed a new O-Line in the worst possible fucking way and if that means blowing up the entire thing from scratch and starting all over then you DO IT. It's not like it can get any worse. With Thuney, our run blocking should improve. So that'll help. But Fisher was average. Schwartz was shit all last year, including when he was still playing (probably the back injury we didn't know about at the time) and the interior was awful. The whole thing needed to be scrapped and Veach is doing it.
Major fucking kudos to him for having the balls to do the right thing. Even if some people don't like it because the full 'plan' hasn't been unveiled yet. Give him time. It's day freaking one of free agency.
I swear some people think we're playing Week 1 this coming Sunday. LOTS of time till then. Be patient. [Reply]

Absolutely.
Reiff or Villanueva are going to give you, roughly, the same type of performance as Eric Fisher. Heck, a rookie LT may be able to give you that, with how talented this class is.
A trade gives you the option to make a similar move or possibly even an upgrade.
They have the resources to improve at C if they want to. Thuney is a major upgrade inside. Shoot, I'd bet on Allegretti being an upgrade at C from Reiter.
