New York’s population is so high though that they are at a disadvantage to those smaller populations with regards to ICUs.

I wake up in the morning, check the news - figure we're doomed. Go to my office to try and determine the best way to keep my employees and clients safe. Worry about them for a while.
Check the news a little later - maybe see something promising. Feel a little better.
Check the news later and find something horrifying. Anxiety into a tailspin.
Feel okay at bedtime after my ambien - sleep well, but with odd coronavirus dreams.

This has been my life for the last month. :-)

In the past 3 days (counting today) the USA has added:

~ 29 236 confirmed cases (~10k per day).
~ 394‬ confirmed deaths (~ 130 per day).

So, yeah things are looking awful there. If the rates keeps increasing like this, the ICU's will reach their breaking point pretty soon and the number of deaths will without a doubt explode.

South is a ticking time bomb.

numbers gonna explode

They are also all packed in together much tighter than those southern states have. Subways, stores, workplaces, everywhere. So much of it. Most of the time I think it's pretty awesome.

I'm worried that's the next phase of this thing, getting into rural areas where healthcare can be an issue and then really doing some damage. I hope I'm wrong about that. We're so spread out as a country that it should help... but this thing seems to create hotspots and we haven't had one of those in a smaller city or town yet.

There's going to be ~30 million unemployed people on a permanent basis in a country that cannot compete globally.

We're fucked.
