Nzoner's Game Room>Andy Reid is a terrible head football coach
rabblerouser 09:43 AM 09-18-2015
Andy Reid got depantsed in the Super Bowl by Bruce Arians.

Bruce Fucking Arians and Tom Fucking Brady.

Well, you see, Andy Reid is an offensive genius, and how dare we question Andy Reid's genius in not running the ball and not utilizing the screen pass in the face of an epically brutal pass rush, a patchwork offensive line and a QB with a hurt toe?

How dare we question his geniusness?

I expect Alex to actually play well against Oakland.

Wasn't 95 the shitty Bono year? Or was that 96?

ESPN: Andy Reid has had QB Alex Smith drop back to pass 70.9% of the time this season, tied with the JAX for most in the NFL

And that is a huge problem. Run the ball Andy and then utilize play action. That's literally what this team did last year when it played well...

Probably skewed from the situation KC has found themselves in outside of the Jets game.

:-) Yeah, those screen passes are really the obvious strategic reaction to being in a big hole.

If I had the time, I'd look at QB performance controlling for "garbage" time.

Why would Andy start using his all pro running backs to their potential this late in his career. Brian Westbrook was never used to full potential. The fat man just loves to toss a screen and call it extension of the running game.

Possession #1-The first 6 plays of the game were passes.
PIT TD 8-0
Possession #2-ware fumble
PIT 15-0
Possession #3-We run the ball for 8 yards on 2 carries. 3rd and 2 with your running game going? Let's throw a screen pass.

It was always pass first.

Maybe they've figured out that they're running into eight/nine men in the box and are trying to loosen up defenses to allow the screen game to operate.

I hope everyone can hear the sarcasm in this post.

Thought the whole point of the WCO, especially Reid's, was using the short passing game as an extension of the running game but also an opportunity to use mismatches to get TDs or at least big chunks of yards with the deeper passing game existing to keep defenses honest or to make up scoring deficits.

The weakness in this is in shutting down both the run and short passing game you must rely on deep passes to keep the chains moving...

Yeah & I also don't think that excuse works for the Houston game either as we were never down more than 10, and that wasn't late enough in the game where the run has to be abandoned.

I think the lack of actual running plays has been a big part of the problem with the offense, which is strange considering we've actually done pretty well on yards per carry. The Chiefs rank 8th in yds/carry & 23rd in yds/game, 29th in runs attempted.

One issue is the execution of the bubbles/screens they run. From watching the A22, most of the time its a good call, ie we are getting a 3x2 advantage. Problem is we are missing blocks.

3x2- bubble should net positive yardage. Defense slides a defender out, or goes man for a 3x3 look, check to run because there are less in the box. Spread offense is pretty simple, but they need to execute.

Pit stomped us.

Doug Pedersen has Philly humming. Reid still has KC stuck in neutral. Or reverse...
