The other rumored story is that was the KC mafia that did that because he dropped a touchdown that lost them a butt load of money. [Reply]
Fred was the first great Tight End in Chiefs history. Super tough, good hands, good blocker. He was a Jackson County legislator for years, and there's a golf course named after him out by Longview Lake. Sorry to see this about his passing. I'm afraid we're going to be losing a lot of the guys from the Super Bowl IV team as the next few years go by. Those guys are all in their 70s and 80s now. [Reply]
Fred was slightly before my time so I don't remember him as a player. But he led the Chiefs' TE corps to two Super Bowls and two AFL championship games, so he must have been great.
For those of you tracking this, Nick Keizer just moved up one spot on the list of greatest living Chiefs tight ends. [Reply]
