There are a lot of these and I'm aware of a good percentage.

But this...THIS ONE...has left my brain in another dimension.

This movie was digitally remastered recently. Has anyone seen it and if so, how does it look?

Wil Wheaton played Alex' friend in The Last Starfighter, but his scenes were cut?

Hadn't heard that. Considering how primitive the CGI was in that movie, though, I think they'd need to go well beyond remastering. The visuals were groundbreaking back in 1984, but now they're the equivalent of the Wright Brothers' first flight in a world of jets.

The VFX were fairly basic and rudimentary but I saw it in the past decade or so and thought it held up better than Tron in those terms. If Disney+ is streaming the remastered Tron, the original must be unwatchable because whatever they're streaming is awful, too, IMO.

There are two different versions of The Last Starfighter out there. There's a 2009 "25th Anniversary", which was just a straight digital transfer and a 2020 4K scan and Remaster, which is what I'd be interested in purchasing.

I thought Tron was better because they weren't trying to portray things that existed in a physical world. Gave them much more leeway. IMO it holds up far better than Last Starfighter.

Don't get me wrong, though, I really like both of them.

You have to appreciate The Last Starfighter for being one of the pillars that future visual effects were built upon.

Plus the story is just good clean fun, with a hilariously cheesy villain, and a great score.

It's like a live-action cartoon.
