Nzoner's Game Room>Okay, so WHAT exactly is so goddamn great about the 2018 QB class?
RealSNR 08:57 AM 04-09-2017
I see a loooooot of question marks here. A bunch of guys who would be 3rd or 4th rounders in THIS draft class if they declared this year. A bunch of these dudes are so young they might not even declare for the draft. And finally, we got a bunch of spread QBs who.... [gasp!]... need time to acclimate to an NFL pro style offense and develop the footwork and timing of taking snaps under center.

I see Sam Darnold. That's great. There's your #1 overall. IF HE FUCKING DECLARES, THAT IS. I see Josh Rosen, who looked good in 2015 but could wind up as another Christian Hackenburg who never puts it all together. And I see a bunch of dried cum with question marks, JUST LIKE THIS QB DRAFT CLASS.

Here's how Walter Football has them ranked:

1. Sam Darnold, USC
2. Josh Rosen, UCLA
3. Luke Falk, Washington State
4. Josh Allen, Wyoming
5. Jarrett Stidham, Auburn
6. Nick Fitzgerald, Mississippi State
7. Chase Litton, Marshall
8. Riley Ferguson, Memphis

COULD this be an awesome and deep draft class for QBs? Yes, absoutely. No question about it. But guess what. There's an equal chance that this QB class flames out and looks just as bad as the 2013 class, particularly if Sam Darnold doesn't declare.

People who bitch about the 2017 class don't fucking get it. They think if there's no true top end QB, that means they all suck. What do the Chiefs fucking care about the quality of the top guys in a given QB draft class? We're not going to be in a position to draft them!

Again, let me say this slowly, so the retards and assholes can hear me:

In ANY GIVEN DRAFT CLASS, the top QB prospects with the best resumes and attributes are irrelevant to the QB draft needs of the Chiefs. The Chiefs have zero shot at picking any of them. The worst teams with the biggest QB needs will draft all of these players before Dorsey can even begin to pick up the goddamn phone to call and move up.

Tell me what we gain from NOT drafting a QB in 2017 so we can draft Josh Allen, Jarrett Stidham, or Chase fucking Litton in 2018, a FULL YEAR LONGER where Alex Smith is the only fucking thing we have at QB.

Actually that would be an ideal situation.

Trade our 2017 1st for a 2018 1st.

Use the 2nd on one of these dubious QB prospects, just in case.

Proceed as planned in 2018 when one of the 2017 cucks flames out.
Yeah, we should totally take a QB in the 2nd....and after he's sat for a year.....we should trade a bunch of future picks to take ANOTHER fucking QB.

Smart thinking there, Madden.

If our GM that's drafted 3 all pro's in 4 years drafts a QB in rd 1, we should all jump on board

And if he doesn't, I will also give him the benefit of the doubt. It is very obvious they are looking for a QBOTF and I will be patient knowing that Dorsey won't take somebody that isn't their guy. I don't want them to do it out of panic, and if he decides to wait till next year I'm fine with that. I think we take one somewhere in the first two days though.

It can happen in the NFL, too.

Jimmy Clausen in the 2nd, Cam Newton in the first the next year.

You have to think outside the box.

Actually you guys might be on to something...if Mahomes can get us to 1-15, Sam Darnold is as good as ours.

Again, I do not give a flying fuck about the top 2 guys. I care (possibly) about the 3rd best, and for SURE I care about the 4th and 5th best guys.

We have no shot at the top 2 guys. If the 2018 class is so fucking great for us, it's going to have to be through its strength at the 3rd and 4th best QBs. Are those guys better than Trubisky, Kizer, or Mahomes?

If they're only marginally better, I'd rather just draft a guy this year.

No, Josh Allen is not better.
I didnt word or make myself clear in that post. I meant it as all fucking last year i hear we gotta draft a qb this draft. Then as the draft is nearing I hear the same yahoos that want to draft one now saying we should wait till 2018. I didnt make it clear so just pinch your but cheeks together and try not to shit yourself.

But who should we target if we want to reach the quintessential owl?

I want a 1st round QB... if it is from the top 4. If not, then I would just as soon not draft one at all.

Well I believe that Andy and John's department. they have interviewed enough and scouted enough plus worked them out. I have only seen highlights and some of the games pretty much same as everyone else in cp.

That was 30 fucking years ago... the Buccaneers waited 6 years between 1st round QB's.. and Josh Freeman helped sink them. Time for the Chiefs and #TrueFan to actually try....

No more ****ing bullshit. Give me a real goddamn QB.
You are pretty good at looking up stats, and I don't have a clue where to begin on this... if it even exists. What percent of our snaps last season actually came from under center vs out of the shotgun/spread? I just got done watching our 2016 highlight film on youtube, and nearly all of the highlights are out of the shotgun. Only and hand full or so came from under center, two or three of those were runs, and two or three were play action passes.

Just curious. And thanks anyway if you don't know where to look.

Edit: I could actually do it from the play by play, but it might take some time. The first game of the season vs the Chargers looks like damn near every single snap for both teams was taken from the shotgun.

The nfl is a shotgun league at this point

I'm not talking about shotgun vs under center.

I'm talking about straight drop passing, from any formation, not this running around ad-libbing bullshit that got Manziel over-drafted and is going to make some equally dumb team take Mahomes too high.

I want a QB who drops back, scans the field, sets his feet and throws the ball into tight windows. End of story.
