I get the feeling that they're planning on developing the characters and storylines much slower than TWD. I'm not sure if I'll like that or not, but it will be interesting to see.

Well, they have me for 6 episodes. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. Not sure what that even means. I'm really looking forward to the premier of TWD in October, so maybe I'm just watching this shit because I'm jonesing...kinda like pre-season Chiefs football.

I had to keep telling myself that it was slow because the infection was just starting. However, I would have liked more foreboding signs and less family in-fighting.

I think it moved a little too fast. I would have liked a little more back story through the kid who tried to smuggle the knife into school. See what he had heard through the internet, where it started, what the original rumors were, etc.

For now, the "disease" is the antagonist. I don't think you'll get a character antagonist in only 6 episodes.
