Media Center>Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8
keg in kc 02:23 PM 05-24-2017
About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

Hopefully, since they're giving us fewer episodes, they will all be loaded up with FX and killing and mayhem and destruction. I just don't see room for anymore Theon torture or Arya being blind gear-grinding story arcs anymore...

I forget how boring this show is. About 2 episodes each season keep me watching, but the rest is just nerd porn. Fantasy is stupid.

I guess Jamie is figuring out just how delusional Cercsi is.

Also, why was Dragonstone completely undefended? I understand it could be a trap, no better place to fight a fleet when it is in port but still.

Well, Euron is going to be more fun than he was last season!

Stanis Bartheon had taken over Dragonstone before heading north to eventually burn his daughter at the stake and die after losing in battle to Ramsey Bolton at Winterfell.

Guess nobody thought to fortify it...and because the plot dictates it to be abandoned.

Keep in mind this happened in history literally all the time. Castles were elaborately constructed, and then altogether abandoned, sometimes in days. This was especially true in areas that lacked natural resources.

It was occupied by Stannis, who was recently killed with the rest of his family.

Its true that people usually didn't live in them all the time because lets face it, they were built for defense and not creature comfort even in medieval times.

They wouldn't be totally abandoned though, usually a small detachment to at least hold them. Castles were abandoned in the later middle ages due to gunpowder cannons rather than just because. Whole new fortifications had to be built to defend against cannons.
