I've never had an issue earing at a buffet, but haven't in years outside of a relatively pricey casino buffet a while back and the occasional specialty, like Indian or Chinese.
Worked at one in high school and for someone who could seemingly put down 10k calories per day without gaining any weight, it was perfect. Don't care to do that these days and there are far better options. [Reply]
Seems like the only time I’ve eaten at a buffet in the last twenty years is on cruise ships. Never been a germaphobe so I never felt unsafe eating at one. But I never eat enough to make it worth going to a buffet, so I almost never go to one. [Reply]

Let's say you're eating dinner in a restaurant and a stranger comes by and touches all of your silverware. Now imagine 99 other strangers did the same thing. Now imagine those strangers looked like hybrids of Wal Mart shoppers and C.H.U.D.s. Now add 75 lbs. to whatever you're imagining.
That's what you're getting at Golden Corral with everyone spooning platefuls of food out of the same troughs. [Reply]

Probably no different than grabbing any doorknob at a public place, using an ATM, or picking out produce at the grocery store that people are picking up and putting back down half a dozen times before they get the perfect avocado. I’m sure a Golden Corral is pretty dirty, maybe even more than a cruise buffet, but the food there is worse for you than any cold you might get from the person before you. [Reply]

Are you licking your hands after you use the ATM?
Germs aren’t the only buffet concern either, buffets are notoriously bad for not keeping their food at safe temperatures. [Reply]
