There’s a big shortage of officials now because no one wants to do it. Wonder why?
It’s high school football. I’ve been with dad where we’ve had to be escorted out of towns by police because of a basketball game he called.
My father is also areferee for football and basketball in Mo (high school) and the region (D3) and, yeah, these officials don't care who wins. They just want a good hard fought game and not a boring blowout and players and coaches to be respectful.
He was doing a basketball game at Mizzou arena about 10 years ago and a parent threw a tub of popcorn at him over a foul he called on their kid (i'm assuming it was the kids parent). Luckily it was only popcorn and not something worse. The police had to drag that guy out of the arena. I wasn't there but my younger brother and sister were there. [Reply]
Lets be honest...theres been a few times we all would have liked to do that to refs over bad calls. The 2018 AFCCG is one of those where I would have loved to have bodyslammed that ref for calling offsides on us after intercepting Brady and sealing the game. [Reply]

Maybe, in your day but todays kids are coddled a lot more. His feelings were hurt and he was expressing himself. He has a tough life in a single parent home, lives in a bad neighborhood, or just about any excuse that can be made. Times have changed and results will come out differently for this generations youth.
Also, at the 20 year reunion him and his classmates will drunkenly laugh about it.
Nah, you can’t assault a guy and expect him to not face severe repercussions, esp with it being a nationwide incident now [Reply]
Getting into a fight with an opposing player in the heat of the moment is one thing. Running back on the field and blindsiding a referee is a totally different deal. It's criminal. [Reply]
