Nailing rookie classes is how we sustain a real dynasty that wins Super Bowls, not just goes deep into the playoffs...
Terez said a month before the draft that teams with good consistent staffs like us would kill this year bc of the virus bc of no pro days or visits in person.

Veach has been amazing but the 2018 offseason was almost entirely a catastrophe. Hitchens, Speaks, O’Daniel, Fuller, Scandrick...
Veach failed to acquire even one difference maker on defense. And we lost the AFCCG by an offsides call.
Obviously he can’t share all the blame, as Sutton and the players and even Reid share it. But Speaks wasn’t just a miss, he was part of an entire offseason of tragic misses that may have cost us a Super Bowl.
Glad he’s been amazing since, however.
This isn't true. Fuller wasn't a failure and you also have to take into account guys like Charvarius Ward and Nieman and Nnadi.
I didn't like the draft but NFL history is littered with bad first drafts by new GMs [Reply]

Wasn't he still using some holdover scouts too? [Reply]

Agreed. We whiffed with some picks in that draft, but it’s not like we took a Jamarcus Russell over Adrian Peterson, Joe Thomas, Patrick Willis, and Calvin Johnson. That’s a major reach over obvious elite talent.
