There was a guy on Chiefsplanet who sadly died a few years ago if I recall because he had a significant toothache. A toothache. And the infection ended up effecting his heart. So how is it that Covid-19 couldn't be the cause of cardiac arrest or a heart attack?

When people get Aids. Do they die from Aids? No. They die from things Aids causes.
I don't think people get this very well. My father technically died from necrotizing pneumonia. Of course, his treatment for GBM directly resulted in that condition.

If covid was contributing cause of the heart attack then it should count , I am sure fighting a virus the body has never seen before puts some stress on the whole system including the heart. there is room for more than one item on a death certificate.

I am sure it could have contributed, he may have also died anyway regardless.

No coincidence reporting of death by other factors have dropped significantly, Covid apparently cures other diseases.

Did his death certificate say death by toothache?

I do understand why they do that but I do believe it can inflate the numbers erroneously as well.

If a patient has asthma gets infected with COVID and develops pneumonia and then renal failure and dies , all will be included in the certificate and all will contribute to their individual statistics.+1 asthma +1 COVID +1renal failure+ 1 pneumonia. the other disease don't disappear it just happens that we are not in a renal failure pandemic at the moment.

What counts is how this is medically coded. For instance people dying are dying from acute respiratory failure or ARDs secondary to the causative agent which is COVID. Nowadays most insurance companies will reject most claims of unspecified origin (aka pneumonia unspecified) and will want the causative agent. If they don't want the underlying cause, the hospital administration damn sure does since specificity pays more.

I understand if the guy who had a heart attack was found dead in room full of hookers and blow and tests positive it might not be COVID related but why would a Doctor risk their license to pad the stats or mislead the family.

No matter how you look at it though, NY numbers are pretty hard to understand are they not?
