Nzoner's Game Room>*****The Kingsley Suamataia Thread*****
Dante84 07:20 PM 04-26-2024
More to come!

Man!!!! I love Andy Reid. The @Chiefs and Andy Reid are offensive line savants. Kingsley Suamataia has big time potential. I think he he can be awesome guard or tackle. Just needs a little technique work. He is an aggressive killer who is great athlete.

Kingsley Suamataia is a versatile offensive tackle who split his 1,300 career snaps at BYU almost exactly down the middle between left and right tackle.

My favorite line from Dane Brugler's draft guide: "He delivers more pancakes than Denny's"

Kingsley Suamataia since 2022:

701 pass-blocking snaps
24 QB pressures allowed
2 sacks allowed

.@Chiefs @BYUfootball #KingsleySuamataia lots to like; lots to work with. #GoCougs have been turning out OLineman over past 4 years. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/4yDc6HYI6i

Kingsley Sumataia | OT | BYU

Traitsy OT w/ great size+athleticism+strengt. Easy range in the run game to pull or climb to landmarks or hit set points in slide. Patient hand usage to stay square and trust his lateral agility. Pad level & overall technique should develop in NFL. pic.twitter.com/p9zOJEuMkr

The @Chiefs just selected Kingsley Suamataia, who is 6'5" and 326 lbs and can do this ⬇️

Have a half-ish Samoan buddy. 6’ 2-3”, 220+. Controlled aggression.

People have fucked with him and found out.

I understand Wanya has the upper hand currently, he's earned the placeholder spot on the depth chart

However, I'll die on the hill that Suamataia starts WK 1 as left tackle.

I'll die on the hill that our starting left tackle week 1 will be Donovan Smith on a one year deal

Meh.

I won't be mad, I just don't think it's necessary.

And if it does become necessary, that probably means we've got shit for tackle depth.

Mid-season at the latest, unless Wayna balls out, which would be amazing. Then you might look at getting out from under Taylor’s deal (I think after 2 years the dead money is tolerable) then you have two young tackles on rookie deals. That would be absolutely ideal, then you can maybe keep both Smith and Humphrey.

We could get out from under Taylor's cap hit June, 2025 I think?

It'd be nice if Kingsley and Morris were the bookends on rookie deals.

I'm 100% Team Kingsley and I think it was an A+ pick and the ceiling is Peneii Sewell.

That said, dude is a project and we shouldn't count on starting him immediately.

Andy already has a soft spot for this kid, he's gonna be wanting him to become the guy more than anybody.

You've got 1-2 more years of Joe Thuney, stick the pup out there next to him and let him grow. Our receivers should be able to make life a lot easier on our tackles this year compared to last season.

If he's gonna reach that ceiling, I think he's gotta get reps, and getting them next to an All-Pro guard who can do some thinking for him early on doesn't hurt.
