The Beltway is already a parking lot. They might have to go into a pandemic style of life when it comes to travel.

Some info regarding lack of tug boats.

Just read there were 20 construction workers filling potholes on the bridge at the time. They also estimate there were about 20 cars on the bridge at the time.

You didn't specifically, but what else are you "suspicious" of? Some new kind of serial killer?

I think there are many cruise ships that use that port too. They are fucked.

I was just about to comment that it would likely be the harbor pilot in charge of the ship. That person is going to know everything about the terrain and the currents, so it had to be a ship malfunction.

Maybe the ship lost power. (Checks thread.) Yeah, that might be it.

Wow, that's interesting about limiting traffic. I wonder how they did that.

Not sure the harbor pilot gets onboard that early. My sister has a female friend that is a harbor pilot master at Port of Philly/Delaware and I believe she takes over within a short distant when she boards the ship. She makes insane amounts of money. Dangerous job.

Gov. Wes Moore confirms that the ship's crew issued a mayday and communicated they were experiencing a power issue, enabling transportation officials to halt traffic over the bridge. "These people are heroes. They saved lives last night," Moore said.

They just said on TV that they were able to close the bridge, and from the video, it looks like no cars or trucks were on the bridge aside from the construction trucks filling potholes. 6 construction workers unaccounted for, 2 survivors.

I hadn't read the whole thread yet, so I missed the 32,000 mentions of potential power loss. Oops!

I imagine there's a decent chance your car would get pinned underneath the top half of the bridge that falls on top of you... terrifying.
