This is surprising to you? It's a crazy scary disease. Thankfully it's historically only been spread by physical touch, and people are usually in pretty bad shape by the time they're contagious, so people who know what it is are able to keep away.

If it ever morphs into something more virulent, though, watch out.

If we're catching 1 infection in 20, whats the math look like on that?

I assume they were doing it to make room , or get the positives out of the hospital environment, in retrospect hospital is probably safer than nursing homes but space was a concern initially.

Eh, I'm hesitant to pretend like I know what I'm doing with this stuff - that's for the epidemiologists to study.

Yeah, I guess I never really looked into that closely. I knew it was really bad, but I thought it was like in the 30's. Fucking 75%? That is insane.

Granted healthcare is in a far better place today, but I realized recently that the Black Death killed roughly half the population of Europe (around 50 million people). I obviously knew it was bad, but for some reason I hadn't ever stopped to think about how insane that is.

Here, let me just inject you with 1mL of this local anesthetic. Whoops, sorry. That was supposed to be 0.1mL. Enjoy half your face being paralyzed for the rest of your life.
