Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

Well it seems like they certainly are if you don’t lie about it or become a problem in the locker room.

But nobody could have saw what was coming with Hunt. There were no legitimate character concerns when we drafted him.

As for Hill, even if something comes out of this and he’s suspended, cut, or not extended after this year, we still got tremendous value for a 5th round pick.
Hunt “allegedly” choked his coach.

Hill “allegedly” broke his kids arm.

Nothing factual about both incidents, just assumptions.

The most entertaining TV right now is watching past NFL drafts. So funny to see how many busts compared to hits. 2012 draft; RG3, Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon - all in the top 5 picks. Totally forgot the Jags moved UP to get Blackmon.

Too funny.

Just watch each first round pick of the Jets and be amazed.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports unsigned franchise player DE Frank Clark could be traded ahead of the draft.
Clark has interest from "several teams," with Buffalo and the Jets among his known suitors. The Seahawks just gave Russell Wilson a new deal and need money for Bobby Wagner and Jarran Reed extensions. Trading Clark would free up the $17 million he's owed under the franchise tender. Clark would likely net Seattle a first-round pick.

The fact those sad sack franchises are high on Clark is telling.

Who isn’t “high” on Clark? He’s really good.

The problem is you have to pay him AND give up a high draft pick.

This.

Some fans ready to write Hill off. I am sure the Browns would sign him in heartbeat.

This is a bullshit stance that makes me want to punch kittens. It's not worth losing players in the off season or before the playoffs because they can't keep their personal shit together.
Not every mega-talent is simultaneously a fucking shitbag too. And it's on Veach and Reid to separate the wheat from the chaff.

What good is temporary success? What good was Hunt being gone from the playoffs? When I watched that pass sail right over his replacement's hands in the AFCCG, I knew right then and there; that was a game-changing fuck up that had Hill been present, would have resulted in a TD.

Superturtle is right. We've established a perfectly reasonable middle ground for this kind of shit, and violent offenders are outside of it. Period. End of fucking story. And if you and others seek to continue to allow this kind of player on the Chiefs, then you deserve every important and miserable loss you suffer for your ignorance. You deserve to spend the rest of your winters salty as fuck and cursing God for your "bad luck".

So why don't you and the rest of the clowns wise up and realize that these high-risk players aren't worth it in the end, and that we can find equal or better talent elsewhere because the "Andy Reid Rehab"-show for wayward fuck ups has clearly expired and is no longer functioning.

I don't mind the 'second chance' guys but you don't bring them in at high cost. You don't draft them at #1, you don't give up a high pick to get them, and you don't sign them at big money.

Furthermore, it's a business, and you don't want to be the KC woman beaters. You've probably used up your Domestic Violence Abuser quotient for a while.

Anthem kneelers or pot smokers or DUI's or anything like that are not problems of the same type or seriousness.

The NFL is such a double standard of bullshit. You get praised for dumping guys with problems and the next team gets praised for getting a good player cheap and taking a chance. When Hunt gets mentioned the incident doesn't even come up anymore.

DV is BEYOND "used up" at this point, and we need to include violent and sexual offenders as well. There's plenty of established evidence and baseline at this point to demonstrate the assured failure we will suffer if we continue to ignore common sense, and keep bringing these degenerates on board.

I'm sorry, but NO political hacks. You keep that shit at home where it fucking belongs, no matter WHERE your politics may lie. We come to games and watch the NFL to get AWAY from that shit, and to share a common bond, NOT to "celebrate diversity" or to stand on soap boxes.

I guarantee you that the players involved in these "demonstrations" couldn't even explain the basic functions of a democratic government. I'll go even further to say that you could sit these clowns down with two hours of "Schoolhouse Rock", and they STILL couldn't tell you how a "bill on capitol hill" becomes a fucking law. If you want to demonstrate and protest? You should be able to clearly and succinctly spell out your position, how it relates to current law, and what your end game is in regards to legislation to "correct the error", assuming there even IS one.

Because, "Yo' man; feels" ain't gonna' fucking get it.

What tendency towards off-field bullshit did Hunt exhibit prior to the Chiefs drafting him?

Asking because I legit don’t know.

Let’s say one of our choir boys like Derrick Nnadi gets busted for domestic violence. If he’s never shown any history of anger management issues or whatever, is that really the Chiefs being reckless?

How far do we have to probe to find out if the mega talent we want to draft might one day get himself suspended? “Uhp... can’t draft this guy we think could be a good starting corner because he had way too many parking tickets in college...”

Don't make it more than it is. If the prospect has a criminal record( and keep in mind that in most states, all of the underage stuff gets expunged ), then it's on the Chiefs to investigate the matter and come to a conclusion based on established criteria( i.e. NO woman beaters, no rapists, no armed robbers etc. ).

“He was once suspended in college, so it was obvious!”- Billay

The answer is there was nothing about Hunt’s history that we know of that could have led us to believe he could possibly do what he did AND lie about it.
