We all have varying opinions about the impact of this, the numbers, etc. We will all never agree with each other. But we can all keep it civil.

Thanks!

Oh well.
That's unacceptable. Antigen tests in particular are cheap and relatively easy to make. We should have a surplus out the ass of these tests in every doctors office,b urgent care, and hospital in the nation.

There's so many people keeping track of the numbers you're probably going to get a number each place you look.

I keep an eye on the overall Missouri numbers but have very much stayed focused on our local numbers in particular. I know they're up to date at least.

Just looking at the % positive and how much it has raised in the past week or two tells you there is a big problem somewhere.

The disruptions and policies are right there in the article.

The point is that the people making the policies have said they are not looking at the bigger picture, not calculating 2nd order effects. In the US we will see a spike in suicide, heart disease not treated, cancer missed, drug overdoses and crime.
There are also second order effects to having the virus raging through a community. Just because you open things up doesn't mean people will come spend money.

Travel is, or was, a big part of the US economy. It is way down. For a country as sprawling and diverse as the US, it would probably take a long time to reach herd immunity everywhere. Instead there would be a series of hot spots. That would keep the economy depressed for a long time.

There aren't easy answers and the trade offs are painful. I think the approach in western Europe is going to eventually be seen as much better than the US. But it will be a year or more before you can use hind sight to say could have/should have for sure.

Dr Fauci on CNN has some good news about vaccines. Confidant that the vaccine will be effective maybe up to 90% and that Moderna says they will have a billion doses by next year.

Also brought up a study that came out a few days ago that I need to look up that said the vaccines stopped covid in chimps.

At 32.9%, the second-quarter annualized contraction marked by far the worst plunge ever recorded, based on Bureau of Economic Analysis data spanning back to 1947. Before the pandemic, the worst GDP print on record was in the first quarter of 1958, when GDP fell 10.0% on an annualized basis.

Yeah but Apple announced big earnings and a 4-1 split, so it's off to the races tomorrow!

Karens and anti-maskers get at the back of the line.

Half of them won't take it anyway. But they're gonna freak out when their kids can't get into school w/o a shot. They are going to absolutely lose their shit.

Why are we still here? Covid has been defeated. No one knows of course because the Drs that figured it out have been banned from social media.

It's over guys.
