Nzoner's Game Room>Off Season Lets Talk Guns, Part 2
HonestChieffan 11:58 AM 01-23-2011
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

The P38 I won on Gunbroker for $461 and $530 after shipping and ffl fee. I took a chance hoping it'd be in good condition since I won it for cheap. It turned out to just be dirty.

The Luger I bought at a local store for $1500. These are two guns I'll never get rid of, along with my Springfield 03 and M1 carbine.

Yes, I'll buy more. I got put on hold for an M1 Garand (sold out, could be six months) by the CMP. I'll probably buy 1-2 WWII weapons per year. Probably a German captured Polish radom or Japanese Type 14 Nambu pistol.

Quick question: going price on an SKS never fired, I'm assuming Norinco, comes with a couple of boxes of FMJ. Asking for a friend.

If its never fired and has the bayonet, I'd say at least $400. And that's if it isn't one of the Chinese variants that takes AK mags from the factory.

No AK mags, blade bayonet. Comes with 30 boxes of ammo for $500.
I told him it sounds like a decent deal.

Yeah that's a solid deal with the ammo.

30 boxes of ammo on the stripper clips? If yes, that's a good deal. If it's just 30 boxes of ammo, is it Russian crap or brass casings? How many rounds per box?

Last gun show at Park City, best buy on Norinco SKS was $300, which was lower than all others at $400-500. Russian SKS ran around $650.

By 30 boxes, do you mean boxes of 20? If so, 600 rounds at around 20-25 cents apiece is $120-$150, so $500 total is fine.

I bought a Ruger Blackhawk Elite air rifle (.177) on sale and just got it yesterday. I went and got some pellets yesterday and decided to try it out this morning. That thing is louder than my 10/22! I guess it isn't the air rifle from my childhood. But it was a good deal...$55 and it came with a 4x32 scope:

This should be added to the OP, it could be very useful.

I'm telling you, if you want to ultimate short range "urban hunting ammo" go with the CCI Quiet-22. It's a 40 grain .22LR round that moves at 710 FPS and it's accurate out to about 30 yards. At 50 yards you get into about a 3 1/2 group. It's a lot quieter than a pellet gun. That's all I use around here to smack rabbits and squirrels.

The only drawback is I doubt it has enough juice to cycle through a semi auto model unless you were to manually eject it after each round. I just load it up in one of my scoped up bolt action .22 rifles and let it rip.

Here is some guy doing a demo, he is wearing hearing protection but trust me, you don't need it.

I used to shoot that (or an earlier version of it) with my Dad's 10/22 when I was a kid...fun stuff. But you're right, it didn't cycle the 10/22. It would be perfect for a bolt action Mossberg plinkster.

I would love to pick up one of these for some reason.

The Henry survival rifle designed long ago by Stoner for the military but just dint catch on really.

i have plenty 22 cal to plink around with but this is compact light waterpoof and floats perfect to take on canoe. But 250.00 I would rather find used.

Right now
i have my sights set on a Colt 1911 have not pulled the trigger yet but its hovered pretty close to the thunder button.

FWIW, I would ask you which part is non-matching. It was not uncommon in the field for armorers to lose the toggle pin or for it to break. If it is stamped with a "42", then that is probably an official armorers replacement part and qualifies your Luger as "all matching" for collector purposes. From a purist standpoint, I enjoy having ALL matching numbers, including the toggle pin. But if that is what is missing 25 and has "42" instead, then you are "all matching" collectible.

I can't speak to the price as condition is so important and I haven't priced Lugers in years, but your 1937 is late year, as the early year guns still had the strawing on the trigger and take-down lever like the earlier years had.

Congratulations. P.08 Lugers are so cool.

I got super lucky and found the matching part. My Luger is all matching now. I highly doubt I ever shoot it now. Hate to break a matching part.

A knowledgeable Luger person told me now that it's matching its probably worth what I paid for it or close to it.
