I wonder if they are voiding his signing bonus based on the texts, etc...
Because technically the full $9 million should accelerate against their cap right now. Unless they had a conduct clause that will allow them to recapture it. I'm betting they'll tell him that he can keep the $5 million they paid him if he doesn't challenge them to get the $4 million deferred they owe him in January. Some kind of negotiated settlement is likely because they'd have to sue him and win to get the $5 million back and in the meantime it would just be tied up into their cap. [Reply]

Not that they couldn't use him -- cuz who couldn't -- but Ramsey to Pats makes no sense. Not a position of need at all and the asking price is very high. Contrary to the pundits, Patriots rarely make "win now at all costs" type moves. Revis was one, arguably, but even that wasn't an absurd amount of money. [Reply]

What I do know about Antonio Brown.
Pats are now off the hook for 14 46-man active roster bonuses. He will definitely get paid for 2 weeks. His 2019 salary is fully guaranteed but it can be voided because of behavior. Pats have not paid Brown any of his signing bonus.
Note that AB could file a grievance against the Patriots. I don't know how that final sentence can be true, but if he says it, you can take it to the bank as the gospel truth. [Reply]
