CNN's Jeremy Diamond claims without evidence that Trump might have his speech in Gettysburg because he loves the Confederacy: "This is a President who has consistently positions himself as a defender of Confederate symbols and monuments to Confederate generals." pic.twitter.com/cqKxbINsBx

"Next on CNN!! Trump to give second inaugural in Vicksburg before a victory rally at Appomattox to satisfy his Confederate Allies!!"

I swear to god, the historical ignorance of our media class would be laughable if it wasn't so !@#$ing common.

What in the actual fuck?

The MSM doesn't care about the truth. The MAM cares about whether or not something has a chance to negatively impact the Trump presidency and/or re-election campaign, and the MSM cares about making a buck if it can. That's it.

Purposefully.

The motivating premise is that Trump is bad. Thus every strategy to establish that premise is fair, even if it is otherwise lying or underhanded. And everyone who would call you on underhanded or lying strategies can be dismissed as Trump apologists.

So very much around 'Trump' in the current era has little to nothing to do with Trump. It's just a proxy for the same power machinations and personality conflicts that have long existed.

The central conundrum is that 'the right' has the better ideas [not because they are smarter or anything, but because they see the value in existing good ideas] but the left has the inexhaustible passion.

Some people think that improvement is a metric and some think it is an essential verb. If you aren't changing things every day of your life, you aren't engaging in the act of improving. And it takes on a ritual nature like exercise or religion, where the pursuit of criticism and change is an end unto itself. And this feeds an inexhaustible passion to advocate change regardless of whether it meets the metrics of improvement. You can't match that passion with satisfaction with current metrics.
