Does anyone honestly think for a second if Smith had Tyrod's stat line, the Chiefs were 5-4 with the 25th ranked defense, the Smith nuthuggers would not be exonerating him?

"Tyralex threw for 285 yards and scored 3 TD against the Jets, the defense blew that game! And the offensive line gave up 7 sacks!"

"Yeah, Tyralex wasn't good against New Orleans, but the defense was abysmal, again!!!"

"Tyralex had this team in first place before the defense bottomed out!"

These are the exact statements we'd be reading on this board, with a giant pile of manure being shoveled on Natrick Mahomerman at the same time.

Taylor: 2-2, 774 yards, 6 total TD, 1 INT, 92 rating

And now look at their QBR over that time span:

Alex: 35, 85, 39, 42
Tyrod: 75, 63, 51, 29

It's definitely a discount Alex Smith situation.

But defense!!!
