How do we improve this team in the 2018 offseason to finally get this team ready to beat Pittsburgh reliably?
Because Pitt isn't going to be where this problem ends. Jacksonville, the Rams, the Titans... any team with a halfway decent OL and a truck of a RB stable is going to plow us.
Does bringing Bennie Logan back really fix our issue?
I think the corrections have to be focused at the linebacker position.
Dee Ford has one year left on his deal. The Chiefs really need to make a priority of drafting a stud OLB this year.
If nothing else, maybe this necessitates the trading of Alex Smith. The dropoff from 2017 Smith to 2018 Mahomes can't be that huge, and if we get a 2nd or (god forbid) a 1st, we could package it with our other 2nd if need be to go get the elite passrusher this team needs.
If we can get a big bodied stud to pair with Houston long term, then Pitt can't just plow through Ford/Zombo willy nilly and maybe the Chiefs can more reliably get to the QB.
We have an OLB prospect in Tanoh who will probably be ready next year.
Do you want to know why the Steelers beat the shit out of us in the trenches? They have better athletes.
I like Allen Bailey and Nacho, but they get manhandled in the run game vs good OL. We need another guy like Chris Jones to win in those matchups. The Steelers have 2 guys in Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt who are just as strong, big and long as Chris Jones.
Honestly there are guys like that that come out all time.
Adam Gotsis-he's improved the Denver run D big time.
Malik McDowell
Chris Wormley
We could theoretically put Tanoh in that mold but I think he's going to play OLB. [Reply]
1) Get rid of Sutton. His defense is nowhere near aggressive enough. We should have made a push for Wade Phillips when he became available.
2) Need some more depth at cornerback, preferably some hard nosed heat seeking missiles who aren't afraid to tackle. I've had enough of seeing Peters meet the receiver at the line of scrimmage and the receiver still finds a way to gain 6 or 7 yards because of shitty tackling.
3) Still need more horses on the DL. Perhaps a better defensive scheme can bring out their talent better, but our DL has room for improvement.
4) Need more speed and talent at linebacker. Hopefully some of our young guys like KPL, Eligwe (sp?), Kpass, Ragland, etc. can develop, but we need depth and don't have time to wait for them to improve. They'll get a chance as the season goes on, and they had better take advantage of it. [Reply]

Sutton has been plenty aggressive when the situation calls for it.
The Chiefs have a shaky secondary and poor linebackers at the moment.
If he tries to blitz there's going to be some burnt toast on the field. [Reply]
KPL and Ragland are good LB's that Sutton rarely uses. It's retarded for Sutton to line up in the nickel against the Steelers unless its 3rd and long.
FFS our best LB's weren't even on the field. DJ is done and Sorenson is not a mother****ing LB. quit putting a goddamn LB and safety on the field behind only 2 DL and 2 OLB.
You're just begging the opposition to run it down your throat. [Reply]
