And the death toll of most of those cases don't directly lead to a lock down on a national or even global scale.

Many years ago in a cardiology class the running joke was, “if you show 10 cardiologists the same EKG you will get 15 different opinions of what they interpret”.

And let me ask you this. People die from pneumonia every day which was caused by influenza, right?

If I called you today and said my spouse died, she was not feeling well, had been running a fever and a cough for the last week or so and had a heart attack are you going to assume Covid? As I understand it they aren't even testing that scenario they are just chalking it up to Covid when those very symptoms could have been influenza.

Because the consequences going far beyond just being wrong. Our entire economy is taking it up the ass right now and though it will bounce back there will be a cost.

So what is being reported needs to be accurate. This isn't the occasional one-off case. We have our medical professionals talking about this being our "Pearl Harbor" moment, people are losing their jobs and their businesses which you being in the medical field should know can lead to all kinds of ancillary issues like depression, suicide, alchol and drug addiction, child abuse, spousal abuse, etc.

This is not the time to be cavalier or unsure about shit because the consequences are extraordinary.
All you can do is state what you believe to be correct. Requesting anything else is unreasonable, and likely not achievable.

If you required a death certificate to be 100 percent accurate, people wouldn't fill it out.

I would not assume Covid-19, no. Keep in mind that positive flu cases are dramatically decreasing, but I realize that is not your point.

What we know for a fact is that Wuhan's medical infrastructure was overloaded, and then the same thing happened in Italy. The entire point of stay at home is to flatten the curve in attempt to keep our hospitals from collapsing.
Death toll bickering is just moving the goalposts to fit an agenda. We must keep our hospitals functioning and so far we have been successful.

Yeah if uncertain the cause why make the guess. Seems a simple natural causes would be better.
