I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

April 2nd I was 235 and today I was 201. Went to the doc and they took some blood so come Oct 8th on the follow up I find out if my cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar are fixed.

About 23 days out from the show in KC and I'm not sure if I'm going to feel I'm ready. There is one in OKC 11-9 that I might feel better about doing. Still 10-12lbs of BF to shed with a nice spray tan.

Weighed in today with a modest loss of a pound and 10 ounces, almost exactly to 291 pounds. That's 126 pounds from my high weight and 66 away from my original goal of 225.

Didn't have the best eating day today, ate a bit much for dinner. Need to rebound tomorrow with a good bike ride and great day of eating. I'm a little over a month from throwing my hat in the ring to ride RAGBRAI next summer, which will be fun!

A poster on another BB I go to posted this in their diet & fitness thread. No one has really said anything specific regarding the questions he's asking, so I told him I'd post this here (because you all know your shit) and see what you had to say.

weights = 20 min cardio warm up then lift bench, bent rows, mil press, upper body dumb bells in between exercises I bike for 2 min...so total 30 min

While doing this, I dramatically changed diet

I drink 4 hi protein 0 carb shakes say about 770 cal all in

the rest of my food is vegetables.....so I rarely top 1500 cals a day or just under half of what I was eating prior

Haven't dropped a pound in two weeks, in fact some days I go up...must be water

How can my body be defying science?
The only real answer he's received was this:

If you work out on a low-carb diet your body run out of glycogen and go after your muscles before it goes after fat (1 lb of muscle burns 60 more calories than 1 lb of fat). If you feel that you need to go low-carb, do it on your rest days.
3. You need to develop a better lifting schedule (e.g. Chest on monday, Back on Tuesday, Legs on Friday, etc.) to give your muscles time to recover. You should give a muscle group at least 2 days rest (e.g. If you benched on Monday, then the next time you bench should be on Thursday).

Those are the only suggestions I can make based on the information you provided. Remember, Diet 70% Gym 30%.

I've started taking this. Half dosage right to start. I'm also not taking the PM Downtime. Just the two pack. Getting my nutrition back on track. I've been in the same place for so long, and I know it's because I've slipped on my nutrition all summer. I won a gift card for my supplement store, so I thought I'd try this for a month just to get things kick started again.

What's the best search criteria to look for upcoming shows/competitions in my area? Just Google "weightlifting competitions in Springfield MO? Are there any particular sites you all go to in order to check things out?

Ate like shit this week but kept it around 2,000 cals a day. Down from 246 to 243.

There won't be anything around Springfield until next spring or summer. There is one the 25th in KC and one 11/8 in OKC. Then it's the offseason until April or May.

First off, 5 weeks is not long enough to see big results. It takes time and dedication to change your body. Second, I'm not a diet expert but protein shakes and veggies doesn't sound like the optimal diet. Third, am I misreading this, or does he not do legs with the exception of cardio? Fourth, if he has only been excercising for 5 weeks, then he probably isn't ready to train 6 days a week.

I'm going to make it my winter goal to be ready to compete next spring.

EDIT: I'd like to go to one first, though, to see what it's like.

The no leg day thing is what I first thought when I read it, too. Plus, if he's working out that much, 6 days per week, and doing that much cardio, couldn't 1500 calories be too much of a deficit for him?

No.

I would suspect there's something wrong with his food log.

EDIT: He also has told us nothing about how hard he is training. I mean, only 30 minutes of lifting with 2/3s of that being cardio isn't very intense, especially since that's only 3 days a week. I would imagine it's a combination of factors, rather than a single factor.

You told me it was all about abs. If that's true, then you might be better off waiting until the later show. If not, you're plenty big enough now to compete.

What does it take to get into competing? As a woman, what should I be able to do? Do I have to wear a stupid bikini? If so, I may have to rethink this whole idea of competing. I'm not toned. Still too much fat and loose skin from the weight loss. Part of it is looks, isn't it? I'd have to start tanning?
