Washington DC and The Holy Land>Netflix Indicted in TX for 'CUTIES'

Lewd Depiction of Kids Alleged

Netflix is being dragged into a criminal courtroom in Texas over the controversial film, "Cuties" ... a film a grand jury believes shows young kids in sexual situations.

The grand jury in Tyler County, TX just handed up the indictment ... and according to the docs, Netflix is being charged with promotion of lewd visual material depicting children. By streaming "Cuties," Netflix allegedly promoted the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child younger than 18, appealing to the prurient interest in sex....

Critics have been very vocal about the controversial film -- some feel it encourages the sexual exploitation of pre-teens ... some have even used the word "pedophilia" to describe "Cuties."

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos has voiced shock that a censorship debate has sprung up around the controversial Cuties film after a Texas grand jury indicted the streamer over the feature.

In comments at the virtual Mipcom market on Monday, Sarandos said Cuties was misunderstood in America after the indictment claimed it “appeals to the prurient interest in sex, and has no serious, literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.”

Defending the Maïmouna Doucouré-directed feature, which focuses on an 11-year-old Senegalese-French girl, who is torn between her traditional Muslim family and her dance troupe friends, Sarandos said: “It’s a little surprising in 2020 America that we’re having a discussion about censoring storytelling.”...

He's shocked about a "censorhip" debate when conservative and even non-conservatives who are tired of war or lockdowns are being censored by Big Tech? He must live under a rock. JHC, can't make it up!

Yawn. There's no child pornography involved. Some attention-seeking D.A. is looking to pander, even if it means getting crushed in court by Netflix.

I saw some asian movie from the 80s.. I think it was?..
Some child was going to be whipped for stealing a wallet.
They stripped him and his pre prepubescent peepee was in full view for multiple seconds lol

But are they gyrating sexually?

When you see so many women with no tops in Europe at a beach or pool, it becomes mundane and that's not sexualizing children themselves. Same for a nude beach.

Of course there is. Underage girls engaging in sexually provocative dances is pretty much the definition of child pornography.

Engaging in sexually erotic dances is in no way pornography, especially when no nudity is involved.

Well, maybe if you're Amish. :-)

But Even if they were gyrating, what difference would it make?

I mean from a distance. Not rubbing up against a 10 year old.
Americans have been taught to overly negatively sexualize everything. And to be shocked by such natural things.
I'm of course rambling before reading any of that...

The left never understands why the right would possibly want to censor them, but is lightning fast in its efforts to censor anything it even mildly disagrees with.

Ultimately things like this are supposed to be determined by community standards, which our Constitution allows for. I presume this will be a jury trial. If they see it as soft child porn then that's how it will be. No doubt, it will get appealed, so a judge can cancel it out based on his values.

I only saw the trailer which was pretty racey. But I can imagine what a director would have to do to get those kids acting that way. That right there is disturbing since they are minor children.

Look up the definition of pornography. This certainly fits.

Has the definition changed over time?
