What are the measurements of the stuff you used? Could I do half and half instead of cream?
Never tried half & half. Don't worry, red meat will kill you before the cream. The cow's ultimate revenge on man.

There is more than ten places in Texas that try to make that their official claim. One of them is northwest of Houston at a place called Goodson's Cafe in Tomball, Texas. It's huge, and it's good.

The best Chicken Fried Steak I ever had though, was in a small town called Lometa, Texas, at a restaurant called the Wagon Wheel. This is a town of about 1200 people, almost smack dab in the middle of Texas. It's a poor poor town, with only one stoplight, and one restuarant. Anytime I was back home in central Texas, I made it a point to stop in and have one. The Wagon Wheel burned down a number of years ago, and the restaurant that popped up to replace it isn't nearly as good. :-)

Yeah, I didn't even notice that. My bad. I was just giving a general story, though.

Everytime I think about that Chicken Fried Steak in Lometa Texas, it makes me think about all these famous food places in big cities that you see on TV. I bet for everyone of them that touts them selves as the best place for a specific food, there's probably a hole in the wall place in a small town that does it better.

If you ever come to Bakersfield CA or pass through stop at Buck Owens Crystal Palace.

When my wife and I got married, she immediately took a job in a different state in order to help us set ourselves up for when I got out of the military six months later. So, when I finally got out, and moved to live with her, she was very excited to do the widely duties as a married woman. The first night I was home, she said, "I want to cook you a good dinner. What would be your perfect meal for your first night home?" I looked up from Texas couch and said, "How about a chicken fried steak?" She smiled, said okay, and went back into the kitchen. I hear some rooting around in the freezer for about two or three minutes, and then she pokes here head around the corner and yells back to me, "You'll have to choose something else. We don't have any chicken!"

Bro. I believe the plate in this pic is about the same size as the one in your pic.

That is at Goodson's. I get it with the white gravy and some mashed potatoes on the side rather than fries. It's a lot of food, but it's delicious. There are so many great foods to try in Cali, I don't think I can get a chicken fried steak while I'm there and feel like I'm taking advantage of my time there. I'll stick to Texas for the chicken fried steak.

Especially here in Bakersfield, we have so many Mexican restaurants (which is my favorite) it's ridiculous. Every street there's a Mexican restaurant. I totally understand what you're saying. We went to KC for a football game and met a Canadian couple. They wanted to meet up for lunch the day after the game. When we talked over the phone the guy wanted to go to Chili's. I was fucking bummed, but didn't want to be that guy lol. I wanted some BBQ since I'm never in KC.

Yeah, I try not to do franchises anytime I'm in a big city. I think my first couple of trips to KC I went overkill on the bbq. A couple of years ago O.city, Clay, and a few others mentioned that there was a very good food scene in KC outside of bbq. So, I've been trying to branch out to different things since then. I still do a lot of bbq when I'm there though. I just make it a point to try other stuff as well.

We have a big group of us going for the Jets game week 3 for my 30th. I've doing some research myself and KC does offer a lot more than just BBQ. We will have to go to Gates though. That was my first BBQ place I went to when I was 19, it's a tradition when I'm there.

melt one stick butter

add one pint cream
2 med. cloves fresh garlic(minced)
1/2c dry parm.(has to be dry)
dash of pepper.

let simmer for 8mins.

Put on anything!
I'm a dumbass, the asiago goes on top of the fettuccini Alfredo in the skillet. But the mushrooms and butter start it. Then cream, garlic, parm. After simmering add pasta, mix up, then apply a liberal layer of asiago cheese.

Then mow down

I've been trying to eat better. Tonight was spaghetti squash and a sweet potato. No pics, can't really present a dish like sketty.
