Nzoner's Game Room>UPDATE: Ford to 49ers for a 2020 2nd round pick. Official.
Dante84 06:19 PM 03-12-2019

More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

The trade is essentially agreed to — Ford for a 2020 2nd round pick. That assumes the #49ers get a deal done with Ford. https://t.co/g4tYK2tWFh

Didn't even think of that.

Lynch got played by Veach and Ford's agent while losing a stud in the process.

Bad look, John.

I remember how much Lynch got his dick sucked over how he built the team through trades.

so essentially, he has to be "healthy" for them to be able to cut him.

Him and Sammy Watkins should do an infomercial "how to get paid full-time money, for part-time work"
Sammy's contract no where close to Ford's, surely you understand how much Sammy lost with incentive bonuses, that were obtainable if healthy?

So basically they turned Buckner and a 2nd round pick into Kinlaw and Ford?

Ouch.

The Kansas City Chiefs picked up Ford’s fifth year option after the 2017 season and gave Ford one year to prove he deserved a big contract. He did just that, by staying healthy for all 16 games (and both playoff games). Along the way, he put up 13 sacks and made a Pro Bowl appearance in 2018. Still the Chiefs were unwilling to offer a big contract given Ford’s ongoing back issues, and the team utilized the franchise tag on Ford with the goal of dealing him.

In the end, the 49ers traded their 2020 second round pick to the Chiefs and signed him to a massive extension that came in at five years and $85.5 million. The deal had over $33 million guaranteed to Ford. For their part, the Chiefs moved on from their 2014 first-round pick in favor of making a big splash with the trade of their 1st round pick in 2019 and their own 2nd round pick in 2020 to the Seattle Seahawks for Frank Clark. Clark was integral in the Chiefs’ defensive turnaround the second half of 2019 and in winning the Super Bowl LIV Championship.

2020 is over. This is about 2021.

11.6 was guaranteed for injury. So unless he passes his physical by April 1 they owe him that money even if he's cut. And then on that day it becomes fully guaranteed regardless.

Debatable.

He had SOME talents but lacked in many areas. He sucked against the run. :-)

It's pretty funny to read back through this thread, especially on Oct. 14th, 2019, where DJ (great poster) and Chief-n-Bama (shit poster) were taking victory laps on Veach being a fucking idiot and ruining this team with his trades and FA moves and other decisions (hiring Spags, for example) . . . . . . . .

Fast forward a year and half and two Super Bowl appearances later . . . . . . :-)

Best thing I did before the Super Bowl is go back and watch a game from 2018.

I mean Veach fucking threw most of that defense roster in the trash and started over. Its amazing, and under appreciated.

Agree with this. It’s hard to state exactly how bad that defense was. The stats don’t do it justice. The eye test (believe it or not) is worse.

Just watch the tackling on the road against Denver. It was horrible.

What’s wild is I always thought they had one of their BETTER performances that year in the AFCCG.
