Nzoner's Game Room>Ellen Page is gay

Well, that's interesting.

Actress Ellen Page publicly came out as gay Friday evening, while giving a speech at Time to THRIVE, a national LGBTQ youth conference held in Las Vegas.

"I'm here today because I am gay," Page told the assembled crowd, which responded with a standing ovation and a long chorus of cheers.

"Whoo!" said Page, before continuing:

Page is most famous for becoming pregnant by her awkward classmate Michael Cera, and for invading the dreams of a stranger alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, neither of which happened in real life, because she is an actress.

After her speech, the Human Rights Campaign, which organized the conference, congratulated Page on the front page of its website for "her brave decision to live openly and authentically."

One of my children’s teachers this year is Binary. They are a fantastic teacher with an even better reputation and my child adores Them.

I try my best to use the correct pronoun but my wife and kids would occasionally catch me earlier this year when I refer to Them as “she”, which I didn’t say disrespectfully by any stretch of the imagination but it definitely takes some time to adjust.

You rock, BTW.

"They" should not be an allowed pronoun. Do you have to say things like "They isn't going to be going on the field trip", or "They doesn't assign homework on Friday"? That's a terrible way to teach grammar to children.

We should all go with "Zhe". It works universally and then there's no implied gender or lack thereof.

"What's Rain Man doing?" "Zhe's creating a poll."
"Is Halle Berry naked in that movie?" "Yes, zhe is and I like it."
"Is Elliott Page dating Michael Cera?" "No, zhe isn't. Zhe doesn't swing that way."

It makes all the sense in the world for society to switch to one gender-irrelevant pronoun.

Agreed. Altering the very construct of the English language by saying plurals don't mean what they mean anymore is a non-starter. Especially when we are talking about .5% of the population.

The children refer to the teacher with the letter T and Their name. So for example, if Their name is Barbara, the kids refer to Them as T.B. or Teacher Barb. The kids don't use those pronouns in the same way the adults use them.

It's easier for me to refer to Them as "T.B." rather than They or Them, mainly so I don't make a mistake and sound disrespectful because my brain automatically thinks then says She or Her.

FWIW, Binary means that the person doesn't identify as a Male or Female, hence They, Them, et al.

Gender dysphoria is a horrific mental disorder to be stricken with, but dont expect me to refer to a female as a man, no matter what name she decides to go by.

Why people are assisted in mutilating themselves due to symptoms of a mental disorder is quite beyond me.
I, for one, enjoy how you state and recognize that it is a "horrific" mental disorder then go on to say... fuck the people who have it, I'm gonna refer to them in manners that will cause someone with a mental disorder further anguish.

No one should expect you to show an ounce of empathy... got it.

Why do you keep capitalizing pronouns? Do you worship these people or are you just trying too hard?
